The RIPE NCC received a police order from Dutch authorities to freeze registration of four blocks of IPv4 addresses as part of an FBI investigation into a DNSChanger case. The RIPE NCC executed the order but then determined the legal basis for the order was insufficient. The RIPE NCC requested further legal justification from prosecutors but none was provided. The address blocks have since been "defrozen" and the RIPE NCC is pursuing legal action for clarity on such orders going forward.
