- 2. WHAT IS RTI 2005? • Right to Information is right of citizen to get information from government. This right empowers the citizen to question the government by seeking information available with government or under control of government. A citizen can seek all type of information except private or confidential information. • Right to Information Act, 2005 was enacted by central government to provide for setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens and came into force on 12 October 2005. Every citizen have right to information subject to the provision of Right to Information Act, 2005. This act provides what information can a citizen ask or can not ask under Right to Information, and what are the procedures to get information under Right to Information Act, 2005.
