The American Revolutionary War ended in 1776 granting independence to 13 states from British rule. During this time, the states wrote new constitutions or changed their existing charters to become republics. Additionally, the formation of the United States led to more clashes with Native Americans as white settlers increasingly moved onto indigenous lands.
