Last Sunday, Jim and his friend Anna went to the park. They wanted to play basketball with the
other children, but when they arrived at the park there was no one else there. Jim was sad, and
asked Anna, “What are we going to do now?” Anna thought, and had an idea. “I know! Let’s
play tag instead!” This made Jim happy, so he dropped the basketball and started chasing Anna.
Please underline all adjectives and circle all adverbs.
Soon, Anna was tired from Jim chasing her, and wanted to stop playing. “Can we go back
home?”, she politely asked Jim. This made Jim sad again, but he quickly agreed to make Anna
happy. As they walked slowly home, though, they realized that they forgot about their
basketball! Jim didn’t want to walk back, so he thought to himself, “A basketball is orange,
round and bouncy. What else is orange, round and bouncy?” Right after, he saw a fat pumpkin
sitting near the road! So he happily brought the pumpkin home, and when his parents asked him
where the basketball was, he proudly showed them the pumpkin.
