The question, “Does life have meaning and purpose” is as old as time. The culture we live in does not always help us live a good life. Christians believe that their faith makes sense and that it provides a path towards a meaningful life even if we have to struggle to understand how God wants us to live. We that our faith is trustworthy. It is the truth that gives meaning to life.

A brief examination of the concept of practicing rest, observing a sabbath, and setting apart a "temple in time" the imitates God's rhythm of rest in creation.
In Acts chapter 2, the church is birthed through the power of the Holy Spirit and the fiery preaching of the apostle Peter. He boldly stands up among the thousands of Jewish pilgrims in Jerusalem who are there to celebrate the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost) and commands them to repent (v.38a). The message of salvation cut them deeply, opening their hearts to the gospel where they turn to Jesus in faith. On the heels of repentance, Peter also commands the crowds to be baptized (v.38) not because it is one more step to earning their salvation but as a way for them to publicly identify with their Savior. Being buried in the water powerfully symbolizes our dying to sin and coming back out of the water symbolizes our new life in Christ. In our culture, everybody looks for ways to distinguish themselves; Christians are no exception. Baptism is the first step we are to take as true disciples to set ourselves apart from the world. If you haven’t identified with Jesus through believer’s baptism, don’t delay.
Jesus was fully man and also fully God. Jesus lived the perfect life as a man and fulfilled everyone of God's commands. He was the perfect sacrifice and now He is a mediator between us and God the Father. He brings peace between and righteous and just God and a broken humanity.

Be Still: Spiritual Self-Care for the Helping ProfessionalGrace679575
This presentation was given by Dr. LaRonda Starling for an audience of licensed Christian counselors, biblical counselors, and pastors at a conference. The presentation is based on the book Be Still: Spiritual Self-Care for Mental Health Professionals. Here is the book description: For counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, certified life coaches, other mental health professionals, case managers, and caregivers burnout may seem inevitable, but it doesn't have to be. Dr. LaRonda Starling offers respite for the weary with this Christ-centered, faith-focused guide to self-care for the soul. With real-life analogies and Bible verses as the basis, Be Still: Spiritual Self-Care for Mental Health Professionals covers topics such as knowing the characteristics of God, having alone time to pray, reflecting on the good in life, studying the Bible, learning to lovingly say no, and taking care of oneself. The end of each chapter includes questions designed to help the reader dig deeper and apply the concepts to their own life. If you are not a therapist, Christian counselor or caregiver, many people working in other fields who are interested in the Bible and mental health or who are experiencing compassion fatigue in their workplaces, have shared that they found the book to be something they are glad they read. So whether you are a therapist experiencing exhaustion or burnout (or wanting to avoid it), a therapist in training, a caregiver of any kind, or work in any of the helping professions (i.e., teacher, nurse, firefighter etc.) Be Still is the essential guide to finding and maintaining spiritual health and peace.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Revelation 3:1-6
Opening Question
What are some things that make you feel alive?
Read Verses 1-3
What does “the seven Spirits of God” mean? What or who does “the seven stars” refer to? Why do
you think these two things are mentioned?
Explain what Jesus meant when he said, “you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead”.
How do you think this happens to a church? What is the warning for us as a church and

How does one “overcome”? What promises are made to those who “overcome”? What thoughts or
observations do you have about these promises?
How do you understand Jesus saying He would not blot out their name from the book of life? Does
