How do you deliver your applications to the cloud?Michael Elder
Cloud, Docker, Bluemix, and DevOps. You feel the pressure of a hyper-competitive marketplace, and you want to win. Your goal is to deliver apps to that make your users happy and excited about your brand and products, but how do you do that? In this talk, we'll provide a technical briefing for how you can use a DevOps-enabled toolchain to deliver your apps with speed and reliability to the cloud platform of your choice. We'll review how UrbanCode Deploy can deliver your applications to OpenStack, IBM SoftLayer, Amazon, and VMWare with a consistent and portable Infrastructure-as-a-Service approach; or how you can use Containers and Cloud Foundry for app tiers that change potentially many times a day. We’ll also focus in on some exciting new capabilities on our roadmap around Toolchains, Pipelines, Insights, and Releases.
Come take a look and ask your questions, and hopefully come away with a game plan to improve your delivery process today.

A Bluemix offering built on open-source Docker technology.
Containers technology originated over 20 years ago with web-hosting vendors seeking to optimize the density of websites residing on each server in a datacenter. IBM, Sun, Google made key contributions to those early iterations. More recently, by isolating an application and its dependencies inside a container, Rocket and Cloud Foundry have evolved standards for working with containers within cloud infrastructure. And Dockerhas eliminated the issues that previously resulted in a containerized application working in one environment but not another.
In the context the IBM partnership with Docker, this document provides an overview of IBM Containers as an enterprise-ready solution for using Docker containers.

We created Goopi to deal with the new unmet requirements of today's media and advertising world.
Specifically, the need to customise and rapidly render multiple versions of the same ad to meet the increasingly detailed and variable profiles of buyers from around the world.
This isn’t just about replacing one sound track with another This goes much further, giving brand managers, the ability to freeze those elements which must never change while giving local brand managers the ability to change everything else - all at little cost and without any particular technical skills. That’s Goopi.
We help you create as many broadcast quality variations of an ad and/or allow users to create professional looking content without the expense, time, or hassle that normally accompanies this work.
How can this be?
Goopi is a patented technology which lives in the cloud and like many cloud services, improves in performance the more computers are connected to it. What used to take 10 hours to render now takes just 10 minutes to complete - for a cost of about 100 dollars.

In the past years at Ustream we built several systems which had to be scalable and resilient by themselves. This included automatic monitoring and scaling, protection against overloads, and the like. We learned a lot of valuable lessons on the way, and I would like to share those experiences, with practical examples and open source tools.
At Ustream the teams developing the streaming technology stack are also responsible for operating it. This means we have our monitoring and alerting in place (including those based on error logs I mentioned above, but many others too) which alert the engineers themselves. I would like to talk about how we made this transition from the traditional setup where the devs did the coding and the sysops did the operation - what lessons we learned, how we convinced the sysop guys to give us permissions and so on

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
