2. ACADEMIC PROJECTS
MAIN PROJECT:
Title: Design and Analysis of Mechanical Housing of Inertial Navigation system and Selection of
an Isolator
Company: Research Center Imarat (RCI-DRDO)
Duration: 3 months
Software: Solid works, Femap with NX-Nastran
Aim: The main aim of the project is to design and analyze the Inertial Navigation system and to
select, design the isolator suitable to it.
Description: Inertial Navigation system placed in missiles, aircraft and ships due to variation of
pressure and temperature it will subjected to mechanical shock and vibrations. I have designed
the mechanical housing of INS using solid works, imported it to the Femap with Nx-Nastran,
where the Modal analysis and the Stress analysis on the housing of Inertial Navigation System,
and found the high frequencies on the housing. In order to reduce the high frequency that leads
to the vibrations on the housing certain steps of calculations have to do for selection of an
isolator. The effect of vibration on the housing can optimize by using standard elements like
spring, damper elements and isolator.
