2. Work History
Digital Technician 07/2000 to 06/2015
AT&T – 5200 Powder Springs Dallas Rd,Hiram, GA 30141
As a Digital Technician, I was responsible for the installation and maintenance of
analog and digital circuits through OC192 service. This included
DS1,DS3,OC3,Optical,POTS,DSL and Ethernet this includes terminating equipment,
software configuration and testing working with teams and alone.
Central Office, Data Centers and NOC services. I am very comfortable in these
environments spending much of my time with AT&T working with facility
technicians installing and repairing cabling issue metallic and optical, VOIP,
TCP/IP, Metro Ethernet, Ceina 3930s, Adtran, DDM-1000, DDM-2000, Lite Span and
Fujitsu and also frame work.
Outside Plant. Not all my work with AT&T was inside work. When I was tasked with
an installation or maintenance I would take ownership of that circuit with
complete build out from CO handoff to the end user. I was responsible for trouble
shooting cable issues to include qualifying, removing bridg tap, repairing
damaged cable both metallic and optical whether it be berried or ASW. I have
also hung my share of Drop.
For several years I was also part of a rapid deployment team designed to assist
technicians that were in danger of missing essential service times.
For many years I was the relieving supervisor when our supervisor was out of
office.
My service with AT&T included providing service and maintenance to
Customers such as Lockheed Martin, FAA (RF repeater sites), Home Land Security
office in Atl. Ga. and Dobbins Air force base to name a few. To add I have worked
on many projects in my fifteen years with AT&T on radio and microwave tower
equipment and several times a week on commercial cell sites.
29E Communication Technician/11B Infantry 06/1989 to 06/2004
U.S. Army and Ga. ARNG – Berlin Germany,Ft.Gordon-Ga., Ft. Huachuca-Az. and
Ga. NG armory Kennesaw
I include my military experience here as it spans the prior eleven years before AT&T
and four years while full time at AT&T. My initial enlistment included six years as an
11B infantryman. On my reenlistment I secured a position as a 29E
Communication Technician. The MOS nomenclatures have changed through
the years but my DD-214 military records display all changes and metals awarded.
As a29E/35E I was awarded certificate of completion with 994hrs of training from
US Army Signal Corps which included everything electronics and back then we
would trouble shoot to component level not just card swap with a strong
emphasis on electronics theory. I have experience with many types of test
equipment to include oscilloscopes, sweep generators, function generators,
spectrum analyzers, jdsu, fluke and millimeters. I have also extensive experience
working with software testing platforms for remote testing commercial and
military. After being awarded my MOS and top secret clearance I was assigned
to Ft. Huachuca AZ. where I was tasked with building the electronics repair shop
3. for the first Tri-Band/Antenna Rapid deployment unit. After leaving active duty I
continued my military affiliation with the Ga./NG where as an non commissioned
officer I managed a radio repair shop of six technicians where we maintained
radio and electronic equipment from units throughout the state. Our last
deployment to theater in support of Iraqi Freedom.
Electrician 09/1995 to 06/2000
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers – 7724 State Highway 68,
Ogdensburg, NY 13669
I started with the IBEW as an electrician apprentice where I attended school
several nights a week while working and learning from electricians on industrial
and commercial job sights. After four years Reynolds aluminum and General
motors had massive layoffs that had a devastating effect on the construction
industry in our area, I was able to find work with two contactors one in Fl. and
then Ga. where I secured my position with AT&T. As an electrician I had worked
on everything from service entry to single and three phase, Transformers Y and
Delta, HV Switch Gear, Motors and pumps and Coduit bending that I
considered Art.
