Employment (after High School)
USMC Sargent E7 1955 – 1959 and then with the USMC reserve until 1969 when it started
interfering with work. First deployed as sniper later transferred to Supply Liaison to insure
troops in the field had everything they needed to perform, including clothing, food, weapons,
ammo, shelter and transportation. I was charged with supervising the performance of up to 150
men and the Equipment and food needed for a deployment and extended involvement.
Federal National Mortgage (FNMA) 1960 – 1961 G-5 while at Georgia Tech in I.E.
Wellington Leisure Products – 1962-1992 Trained in Sales, Accounting and Production – chose
to be in Production with duties in also Purchasing, Scheduling – Started a nationwide truck line,
Relocated Manufacturing Plants, Union buster in acquired operations, Set up Outlets Stores at all
manufacturing locations to convert obsolesce inventory to profit. Made sales calls to customers
to solve production problems and develop new products. Investigated major thief problems and
personnel training. My last position was General Manager with responsibility of 3 manufacturing
plants and in excess of 550 employees.
JHLP, President and CEO 1992 – 2000 Retail Outlet for Golf, Fishing, Archery and Marine
Products. 17,000 square feet showroom with an indoor Archery Range and Golf Driving Cages.
Sales Volume of $3M with 12 employees. We also Customed built Golf Equipment, Repaired
Bows and manufactured Arrows. I taught and wrote articles for publication in archery. I also
instructed classes in Archery safety, Hunting Safety and Boating Safety for NC Wildlife, I had
over 2600 Customers that I instructed and certified over the years. Closed business due to
Problems with lease and high costs that were needed to maintain building improvements.
Radio Shack; June 2000 to Present. Sales Manager at Radio Shack Stores 9623, 1798, 2357,
8751, 1928, 2390 and 1918. Was selected for DM program Feb 02, Received President Council
Ring in 2005. I never have had a losing store and most of the 7 stores were on the floor when I
got to them. I left the DM program in 2005 due to both my mother and my mother in law having
extreme medical problems. I Served as PIC for District 0382 Twice while my DM was out on
Medical Leave for about 9 months total.
EDUCATION
I.E. Georgia Institute of Technology 1954 -55 played football under Bobby Dodd then left for
USMC, then back to GA Tech 1959 -1961.
PERSONAL
Married wife Brenda, son, daughter and 3 granddaughters.
Member of Pinecrest Presbyterian Church served 3 terms as Deacon, Currently I am an Active
Elder, Clerk of Session and Church Treasurer.
Past History: President Rotary, President of Oxford Alabama Chamber of Commerce and
organizer of Greater Anniston Chamber of Commerce, State Officer for Georgia Jaycees, Leader
in Georgia, Alabama and N C for Boy Scouts. Representative for Henderson County for Western
Carolina 'Land of Sky' planning board. Real Estate Broker.
At age 12 had a News Paper route with over 200 customers that I delivered on a Bike. A
Lifeguard at age 16.
I am certified by NAA, NFAA, and NBEF and by NC as an instructor certified in Archery,
Hunters Education, Bowhunting Education and Boating Safety. I am also a Notary for N.C.
