EXPERIENCE
February 2004 to Present
Residential Real Estate; Reno, NV
Short Sale Listing Agent and Team Leader
I started in residential real estate in February of 2004 after a lengthy career in
pharmaceutical sales. I have been very successful in real estate and thoroughly
enjoyed it. The flexibility of real estate has allowed me the time to raise my
children with stability of being home at night versus the extensive travel my
career in pharmaceutical sales required. My personal earnings in real estate
have fluctuated between $150,000 and $300,000 per year before expenses and
taxes. I have learned to manage the balance between money spent on
advertising, payroll, personal promotion, and retention. I am now retaining
over 70% of my earnings despite having a full time assistant and feel that I have
mastered both the customer service/satisfaction and the management ends of
real estate. I no longer feel challenged. I am curious what else might be out
there for me that is exciting and challenging and will put my outside sales skills
to use. I am also in the process of relocating to the Richmond Virginia area
from Reno, NV. My children are now in high school and we are moving near
family, so I am hopeful to get back into an outside sales role that involves travel.
2. September 2010 to January 2012
Intero Real Estate Services
Owner/Agent
The Franchise Owner of Intero Real Estate Services recruited me to leave my
current real estate company to help them open a new office in the Reno/Lake
Tahoe market. Having always wanted to be a Broker/Owner, I gave the
opportunity a shot. I was promised a lot of things that never came to fruition.
My business partner proved to be dishonest and had a very bad reputation.
Although my personal real estate business flourished, my business partner
mismanaged funds and the venture eventually failed. I learned a lot from this
experience, but it was a very costly mistake. I left the partnership and the
company closed shortly after. Intero Reno is no longer in business under the
same ownership.
March 2008 to June 2012
America’s Home Rescue, Austin, TX
Affiliate Short Sale Trainer, Consultant, and Coach. My past experience with
Short Sales was noted as very rare among real estate agents and I was
approached by America’s Home Rescue to become a Trainer for them teaching
Continuing Education Courses for Real Estate Agents across the country. I
worked closely with the owners of this company to roll out a training course
and teach classes to realtors on how to close these complicated real estate
transactions. I was certified a Continuing Education Trainer for America’s
Home Rescue in Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and California. I taught a CE Course
approximately 2 times a month in addition to my personal Real Estate Practice.
April 1999 to February 2004
Johnson & Johnson, Centocor (Biotech) Division
I sold I. V. Remicade (Infliximab), a monoclonal antibody against tumor
necrosis factor alpha inhibitor, to Rheumatology and Gastroenterology
Physicians. Indications for this drug are Rheumatoid Arthritis and Crohn’s
Disease. This position required me to educate physicians on the introduction of
the drug, train infusion nurses in administration of the drug, coordinate and
sponsor Continuing Education Grand Rounds for hospitals and physicians,
develop and coordinate physician Journal Clubs on Rheumatology and
Gastroenterology topics, sponsor and provide national speakers for CME
Conventions, and coordinate local M.D. speakers at Nurse Continuing
Education programs. When hired in April of 1999, my territory was ranked 87
out of 208. I ranked in the top 35% at the end of my first year, top 20% my
second year and ranked #9 in the company and won Presidents Club in my 3rd
year. My territory was Montana, Wyoming, and part of Northern Idaho. I
attribute my success in this position to taking a very practical approach of
discussing Remicade with my customers. The position required us to teach
infusions, reimbursement, and Medicare reform regulations to our physicians
and uncover their barriers to this drug. The goal was to gain their trust and
respect thru our understanding of their practice before discussing a new and
3. very costly biological infusion treatment they may not even understand how to
administer. I excelled nationwide in the launch of this product. I reluctantly
resigned from this position after having my 2nd child because of the size of my
territory. Although I truly loved this position covering 3 states with 2 babies at
home eventually became too much to manage. My son was 16 moths old and
my daughter was 2 and half years old when I resigned.
March 1995 to April 1999
Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Powers Rx Division
I sold family healthcare products to physicians, hospitals, and pharmacies in
Western Montana. My territory was Missoula, Hamilton, Kalispell, Great Falls,
Helena, Cut Bank, Havre, and Shelby. I sold Celebrex, Zyrtec, Diflucan, Zoloft,
Cardura, Glucotrol XL, Aricept, and Trovan during my tenure at Pfizer. I had
the pleasure of launching 4 brand new drugs and consistently ranked in the top
10% of the sales force. In 1999 I finished #1 in my District and #9 in the region.
I won District Representative of the Quarter all 4 quarters in 1999, Regional
Rep of the Year and Presidents Club. In 1998, I won District award trips for
both Aricept and Zyrtec sales. I also won the only award given in my Region
for getting 100% formulary acceptance for Trovan it’s first year. In 1997 I won
a Zyrtec Award Trip and District Rep of the Quarter for 2nd Quarter. At the
persuasion of a headhunter, I reluctantly left Pfizer to go to Johnson for
$20,000 more in base pay, 6 weeks paid vacation, and the opportunity to move
into biologic/immunology sales. The new technology was of interest to me.
December 1991 to March 1995
United Parcel Service, Account Executive, Central MT, Western MT,
and Colorado Springs
I sold air and international transportation services to major accounts. My
primary responsibility included volume development. This was done by
discounting to match or beat competitor rates, improving customer service, and
resolving logistical issues between operations and customers, to provide better
pick-up times than the competition offered. I also investigated damages, fielded
customer complaints, conducted customer service training classes for the
drivers, and worked in a staff management capacity over the union labor. I
received Account Executive of the Region in both 1994 and 1995 and consistently
exceeded my sales quota in all 3 territories that I held. I left UPS to go into
pharmaceutical sales for an increase in salary and a less stressful industry.
September 1991 to December 1992
Full-Time Student; College of Great Falls; Great Falls, Montana
I completed a BS in Marketing and Management while simultaneously working
as a UPS Intern in sales. I was President of the Business Round Table club in
1992 and brought a defunct club up to over 100 members. As president of this
organization, I spearheaded a Casino Night Fundraiser that raised over
$20,000 in one night. I graduated with an overall GPA of 3.78.
4. April 1990 to September 1991
American Red Cross; Hahn Air Force Base, Germany
As personal assistant to the station manager, I was responsible for training,
supervising, and assigning tasks to over 500 volunteers. I managed the station
budget, which included Emergency Assistance Loan and Grant funds,
Advertising, Donations, Education, and Operating Expenses. I handled all
Public Relations for Blood Drives and CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety classes,
and was certified as an instructor in all 3 course to assist volunteer instructors.
I also developed a resale profit tracking program for training guides that was
accepted throughout the region and earned me a recognition certificate.
December 1984 to December 1995
Air National Guard and Air Reserve Member
I held various positions in the guard over 11 years in Kentucky, Germany, and
Montana. I worked as the Unit Public Relations Representative and a Flight
Line Refueling Operator while in the Montana Air National Guard. I also
taught Total Quality Management Courses to the entire unit of the Montana Air
National Guard for a 2 year period. I received extensive military training on
facilitating classes to prepare me for this 2- year assignment. I vastly improved
my public speaking skills over the 2 years of instructing through feedback
gained by my audiences. In Germany, I was a typist in the Reports and
Analysis Division of the Security Police Department. In Kentucky I was a
personal assistant to the Commander of my unit and a dental hygienist
technician.
