3. Why have I decided to enter the RN-BSN programme?
I have decided to enter the RN-BSN programme as a means of personal growth and development
in my profession. A program such as this can open many avenues to my nursing career and
prepare me to enhance patient outcome. The field of nursing provides many opportunities for
advancement and specialization. I believe that in order to provide the most efficient care to
patients it is essential that the practice of nurses encompasses level of continuing education and
training. A BSN will assist me by setting a foundation for my long term goal, which is to be a
Diabetes Management Educator. The curriculum which is set for nurses at a BSN level goes
beyond the clinical aspect and places emphasis on advancement in the profession. Having
embarked on such a programme my knowledge will be broadened and challenges will be better
handled in my profession.
