1. WHAT DOES GOD EXPECT OF YOU
AFTER YOU
BECOME A CHRISTIAN
I) DEVELOP A REGULAR BIBLE
READING SCHEDULE
A) Diligent Bible study is the only
way to know God’s will, who
God is and learn His ways
Ex. In the Old Testament, we
will learn that God values
righteousnessmore than life so
he tells David, Joshua to kill all
the Amalekites, Phillistines,etc.
He takes care of the people
who do his commands and
renders the disobedientpeople
as useless or not worthy to live
B) Regular Bible Study will help
you to learn the important
things faster together with the
sermons you hear on Sunday.
C) Learning the stories and
accounts will be a good
springboard so that when the
Pastor will preach about it you are
already familiar with the story of
the account
Acts 17:11; Psa. 1:2; 2 Tim. 2:15;
3:16,17.
II. ESTABLISH YOUR PRAYER LIFE
A) Prayer is the source of power for
every Christian. It is a privilege given
to every born-again believer. Prayer
is amazing because imagine asking
the Creator of the universe for
somethingand He will give it?
Prayer is very important in
surviving in this world. People
wonder where they can get more
money and sometimes resort to
scamming other people, cheating
their boss or getting involved in
illegal or illegitimate activities but
we as Christians are commanded
just to kneel down in prayer and
wait for God’s answer.
Prayer is our means of
thanking God, praising
Him, and making our
needs known. Phil. 4:6; 1
Pet. 5:7; Matt. 6:9-13; 1
Thess. 5:17.
III. COMMIT YOURSELF TO ATTEND ALL THE
ASSEMBLIES OF THE CHURCH AND TO PARTICIPATE
IN ALL ACTIVITIES
A) New Testament Christians
always were recognized as
part of a local church. They
committed themselves to
be involved and actively
participate in the work of
that church. See Acts 9:26-
28; 11:26; Heb. 13:17; 1
Cor. 1:2; Eph. 4:16 (cf. next
point).
B) We should come on the first
day to commune and give -
- Acts 20:7; 1 Cor. 16:1,2.
We should come whenever the
church meets to study, sing,pray
and fellowship: Heb. 3:12,13;
10:24,25; John 4:24; Eph. 4:16; 1
Thess. 5:11; Acts 11:26; 2:42; 1
Cor. 14.
2. IV) GIVE YOUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS
A) One of the keys to blessing is
giving back the tithes to the Lord
Malachi 3:8-12, Lev. 27:30
B) In the Old Testament, they had so
many kinds of offerings: sin
offering: Exodus 29: 14; peace
offering: Lev. 3:6; burnt offering:
2 Kings 16:15; meat offering:
Numbers 29:6; drink offering:
Numbers 28:7; trespass offering,
Lev. 6:5-7; grain offering:
Leviticus 2:1-4; freewill offering:
Ezra 7:16
heave offering: Exodus 29: 28
wave offering: Lev. 14:12
C) But in the NT, the kinds of
offerings were never
mentioned but only offering
and gift: Matt. 5:23,
Luke 21: 4, I Cor. 16:2
D) If we are generous to God and
to people , He will also be
generous to us: II Cor. 9:6-9, 17,
Prov. 11:24, Acts 20:35
V. BE INVOLVED IN EVANGELISM
A) For the new Christians who still do
not know how to lead a person to
Christ, what they can do is to invite
people to church, give out tracts and
share their testimony to their friends
and loved ones.Matt. 28:19-20
B) The Internet is a good way to share
the gospel. You can be in touch with
every unbeliever you meet and send
them Christian messages every now
and then to help them to have a
better perspective of what
Christianity is. There are many
avenues in the Internet to share
God’s word like Facebook, Twitter,
Yahoo, Youtube, Slideshare, etc.
C) The Bible says “compel them
to come” Luke 14: 23
So we should do everything to
bring people to Jesus Christ. If
the reason why God saved us is
to bring us to heaven then he
should have taken us home the
moment we got saved but He
wants to use us to bring to
gospel to others. Evangelism is
the only reason why we are still
alive today.
VI. MAINTAIN A GOOD TESTIMONY AND A GOOD RELATIONSHIP
WITH OTHERS
A) We are the walking Bible that
other people can see.
Unbelievers do not read the
Bible but because of our
example they should know
who Christ is. We are the salt
of the earth and the
light of the world. Matt. 5:
13, 14
B) We must draw the people to
ourselves before we can draw
them to Christ. This means
we should have a good
relationship with the unsaved
before we can invite them.
C) We should be an example in our
school or workplace. We should be
recognized as the people who follow
the rules, who do their best in their
jobs, who do not join colleagues
when they gossip, who try to have a
happy spirit always, avoid
camplainingabout our boss, our job,
our colleagues and try to influence
other people to follow your
example.
