The pandemic has caused the slowdown of economic growth in Indonesia. Indonesian economy 2020 had growth contraction up to 2.07 percent (c-to-c) compared to 2019 (Berita Resmi Statistik BPS, 2020). In quartal I-2021 toward quartal I-2020 contracted 0.74 percent, however the growth in quartal I-2021 compared to quartal IV-2020 is -0.96 percent (y-o-y) (Berita Resmi Statistik BPS, 2021). It shows that pandemic hardly hit and affect the economy due to lower demand and purchasing power. One of the most affected business is startup in which 10-15 percent of startups failed during the pandemic 1 (Bisnis.com, 2021). One of the reasons is due to high reliance to the investor, however during pandemic many venture capitals tighten the investment to the startups or even close the business. Pandemic also create divide between startup which grow faster and slowing down or even close the business. The startup which grow faster is startup which work on edutech, health tech,
marketplace/ecommerce, online entertainment (video on demand), and e-grocery. On the other hand, startup which slow down or close operate on the sectors of tourism and accommodation/lodging, ride hailing, and fintech. The startup which work on fast growing sector during pandemic such as edtech also face tight competition. Therefore, many startups
in this sector will fail when the operational are inefficient, unscalable, failed to expand the market, and external funding reliant. The objective is explore the condition of startups during
the pandemic as well as its survival mode, and the policies made by the government to overcome these conditions. The role of the government in helping startups survive amid a pandemic becomes essential. As is well known, the government assists conventional MSME players, but the suitable incentives given to start up players still needs to be studied further. Method used is descriptive supported by secondary data from survey, case studies, and literature studies (books, articles, and journals). The conclusion is government can support in terms of funding, promotion and networking, market control, and new normal protocols. In terms of funding, the government should target to support the improvement of the business climate. The government can also support startups to promote online. In terms of market control, the government is trying to improve price stability by implementing a stimulus program. Another thing that needs to be done is to make clear protocols in business operations so that there are clear rules of the game in its implementation.

Abstract
Criminal incidence has negative costs in terms of loss, death, psychological and physical
pains of the victims. This study applied geospatial techniques in analyzing crime incidents
in the Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Data of police crime
records were obtained from the Divisional Police Headquarters within the Bayelsa West
Senatorial District. An administrative map of the study area was acquired from the Ministry
of Land and Survey, Bayelsa State which was used as the base map. These data were
analyzed using Nearest Neighbour Analysis (NNA) and Kernel Density Estimation (KDE),
to derive the pattern and density of hotspots of crime in the area and descriptive statistics
were also used. The findings of the study revealed the existence of nine (9) crime types
from the police records. Theft/Stealing had the highest incidence rate of 30.6%, while
hurt/fighting and kidnapping were the least with 3.5% each. The NNA result of the spatial
pattern of crime produced a clustered point at 0.01% significance level with the Nearest
Neighbour Ratio (NNR) of 0.491906. The analysis of the KDE shows that crime
concentrates on the communities with high population and higher economic activities with
different types of crime showing different spatial patterns. The study, therefore
recommends that community policing committees should be established in Ekeremor,
Sagbama and other affected towns and villages bedevilled by criminal activities in the
Local Government Areas.

Government Intervention, Subjective Norms and the Entrepreneurial Intentions ...ijtsrd
The economic situation presently in Nigeria is such that there is massive youth unemployment and underemployment in Nigeria. The situation as a result has made it difficult to access assistance from family and friends. The main objective of this paper was the investigation of the effect of government interventions and subjective norms on the entrepreneurial intentions of graduates of Nigeria Universities. A sequential mixed research design was adopted. A structured questionnaire was used to elicit responses from graduates of two universities located in Anambra State, Nigeria. A census of the 391 graduates was conducted. Interviews were conducted using ten selected purposively graduates from the sample. Statistical Package for Social Sciences was used to carry out moderated and mediated regression analyses. The data collected were analysed to enable the assessment of the impact of government intervention and subjective norm predictor on entrepreneurial intention dependent variable . The results showed significant mediated and moderated relationships which implied that government intervention explained the relationship between this predictor and subjective norm, and the entrepreneurial intention. It was the finding of the study that there is a need for government to urgently ensure a conducive environment that provides the improvement of the economic situation, thereby generally giving hope to the youths and enabling family and friends to be able to encourage, advise, and give financial support to the graduates. Government should be sincere and equitable in the distribution of intervention programmes targeting youths and the graduates and should guarantee equity in the implementation of government programmes. Rural Infrastructure and Sustainable Development in Nigeriaijtsrd
This study examined rural infrastructure and sustainable development in Nigeria. From the result of the OLS, the study revealed that poverty alleviation, basic education, rural electrification, primary healthcare, and road network have a positive impact on sustainable development in Nigeria. With the exception of road networking that was not statistically insignificant, all the other variables of the study were statistically significant in explaining sustainable development in Nigeria. The study recommends that The federal government should increase its monetary budget on education for the purpose of procuring educational materials, equipments, conducive environment for both staffs and students and also provide skill acquisition equipment for human capital development which will also lead to self employment. The government at all levels should formulate policies that aims at eliminating those negative externalities that are responsible for natural resource depletion and environmental degradation which undermines sustainable development in Nigeria. Government should also step up a well supervised expenditure on basic infrastructures, poverty alleviation, basic education, rural electrification, fight against corruption, primary healthcare, and road networking. This is because they have been found to influence productivity of the rural dwellers and also affect sustainable development. Use of Social Media in the Marketing of Agricultural Products and Farmers Tur...ijtsrd
The study sought to determine the extent to which the usage of social media in the marketing of agricultural products in South West Nigeria can enhance farmers turnover. It employed the survey research design to collect data with the help of a structured questionnaire to elicit information from respondents selected from six 6 south western states. Research data were analysed using structural equation modelling. The results showed that the use of social media WhatsApp and Facebook in marketing of agricultural products significantly enhances farmers turnover. The managerial implication is that use of Whatsapp and Facebook in the marketing of agricultural products for the enhancement of farmers’ turnover was found to have significant influence on the enhancement in farmers’ turnover from agricultural products. Policy makers in government should provide the enabling environment for the telecommunication companies to enhance their reach by installing their facilities across the length and breadth of the country so that the network coverage will be strong at all times so that the benefits of social media usage will not be constrained. June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
