This document provides instructions for students to complete part one of a research paper project. Students are asked to get an index card and list 5 British authors they are interested in researching, ranking them by order of interest from 1 to 5. They should also include their name, class, period and date on the index card with the author list. Any questions about the assignment should be brought to the teacher.

2. Step 1 Get a 3x5 index card

3. Step 2 Find 5 British Authors that you would like to research

4. Step 3 List the authors in the order of interest. “ 1” being your first choice.

5. Don’t understand? Say your authors are Shakespeare, Rowling, Milton, Shelley, and Auden. Now, say your 1st choice is Rowling. Then, Rowling should be #1 on your card. And, so on…

6. Step 4 On the same side, place your heading on the note card.
