This document summarizes the results of a short film questionnaire. The questionnaire asked respondents about their gender, age, favorite genres and films. It also asked whether they enjoyed films about teenagers, with twists, or that were entertaining. The summary is that the questionnaire suggests targeting the film mainly at women under 40 and also men under 40, as these groups showed interest in romantic comedies. It also found that most people prefer films with twists and that are entertaining rather than informative. The intended audience is identified as females between 15-70 and males between 15-35.

These results above suggest that my short film should be aimed at mainly women but also men
under the age of forty as these people show interest in the Rom Com genre.

The answers to the question above confirm that men over the age of forty would not be interested in
a Rom Com.

From the question above I can confirm that anybody over the age of about 70 are not interested in
watching films with teenagers as the protagonist so I can rule them out of my target audience. Also
these results suggest that most other people like films with young people playing the lead roles other
than the occasional male so this film could possibly be targeted more at females.

For question six I have learnt that the majority of people like ending with a twist otherwise the
ending is predictable and boring. Therefore I am going to try to include a twist in my film.

Again this question suggest people like to watch films which are entertaining rather than informative
or educational so I am going to make my short film entertaining and the only people who prefer films
to be educational or informative are both over 70 and are not going to be included in my target
audience anyway as the style of film is not for them.

The people who have chosen Rom Com’s as their favourite films are 3, 5. 6 has chosen a romance. 3
and 6 are women; hence the mainly female target audience. 5 is a young male which shows young
men do like Rom Com just as much as women.

These results show that only men don’t like short films which suggests this short film again should be
targeted more at women.
Overall this questionnaire has helped me a lot as it has made my target audience clear and has given
me key things to incorporate into my film. I now know my target audience is females between the
ages of 15 and 70 and also young men between the ages of 15 and 35. I have also learnt that the
majority of people like an entertaining film with twists and turns within the plot. My film is going to
be purely for entertainment and I want my short film to make people forget about their lives and feel
happy watching this film. The audience should react to this film in a positive way and maybe even
feel inspired by it.
