Request for Interest and Qualifications:                           Technology Training Services

Requesting Organization:                                           First Nations Technology Council

Executive Summary:
First Nations Technology Council (FNTC) has a 3 year project to provide technology training to Aboriginal
Adults in BC.

The objective of this Request for Qualifications and Interest is to identify qualified trainers with relevant
skills and experience able to deliver training to First Nations adult students throughout BC.

Selected individuals will be expected to:

       Provide introductory to advanced training in various technology disciplines.
       Deliver training that is respectful of Aboriginal culture; incorporates Aboriginal content and in a
        manner that is relevant and effective for Aboriginal students.
       Collect and assess student skill level and readiness for taking industry level certification exams.
       Travel to centres and First Nation communities throughout BC to deliver training.

Background

Scope and Context
    The FNTC maintains offices in West Vancouver.
    First Nations communities are spread throughout BC.
    The capacity and experience of First Nations ranges from remote unconnected communities to
       advanced innovators in urban centres.
    FNTC owns mobile laptop labs and equipment for training sessions.
    Emphasis is placed on Industry recognized and certified training standards like IC3, Strata IT
       Fundamentals, A+, Network+, Microsoft and Cisco certifications.

Desired Qualifications and Qualities:
    Post-secondary credentials with 5+years’  experience and demonstrated success planning,
       managing, and conducting training in First Nations communities
    Experience training on a broad range of Technology skill sets
    Completion of relevant industry training certifications such as IC3, Strata IT Fundamentals,
       CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNA security, Microsoft Office 2010,
       Microsoft server 2008
    Ability to build, configure and troubleshoot hardware systems for computers, laptops, printer,
       network devices, and mobile devices
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
    Knowledge of network technology concepts like IP addressing, Ethernet cabling, routing
       protocols, network security, firewalls, data security, VPN, and others
    Clear understanding of the skills and knowledge required in technology careers
   Professionalism balanced with cultural sensitivity, integrity and objectivity
       Open-minded and willing to consider alternative ideas or points of view
       Adjusts readily to different situations
       Effective time management, prioritization, planning and efficiency skills
       Willingness to upgrade knowledge and skills where necessary
       Ability and willingness to travel

Review of Submissions:
Submissions shall be evaluated using the following criteria:

       Experience of contractor and ability to meet the requirements.
       Ability to deliver the requirements when and where required.
       Proven experience in delivering similar scope of work.
       Education training and technical qualifications and capabilities.
       Quality of proposal.
       References.

Working Agreement
The successful contractor will enter into a contract for services with the FNTC based upon the
information contained in this request for proposal and the successful contractors' submission and any
modifications thereto.

Contractors may include their standard terms of engagement with the Proposal.



Anticipated earliest contract start date: November 1, 2012

Last date for accepting proposal: 4:00 PM PST on October 19, 2012

First Nations Technology Council Request for Interest and Qaulifictions

  • 1. Request for Interest and Qualifications: Technology Training Services Requesting Organization: First Nations Technology Council Executive Summary: First Nations Technology Council (FNTC) has a 3 year project to provide technology training to Aboriginal Adults in BC. The objective of this Request for Qualifications and Interest is to identify qualified trainers with relevant skills and experience able to deliver training to First Nations adult students throughout BC. Selected individuals will be expected to:  Provide introductory to advanced training in various technology disciplines.  Deliver training that is respectful of Aboriginal culture; incorporates Aboriginal content and in a manner that is relevant and effective for Aboriginal students.  Collect and assess student skill level and readiness for taking industry level certification exams.  Travel to centres and First Nation communities throughout BC to deliver training. Background Scope and Context  The FNTC maintains offices in West Vancouver.  First Nations communities are spread throughout BC.  The capacity and experience of First Nations ranges from remote unconnected communities to advanced innovators in urban centres.  FNTC owns mobile laptop labs and equipment for training sessions.  Emphasis is placed on Industry recognized and certified training standards like IC3, Strata IT Fundamentals, A+, Network+, Microsoft and Cisco certifications. Desired Qualifications and Qualities:  Post-secondary credentials with 5+years’  experience and demonstrated success planning, managing, and conducting training in First Nations communities  Experience training on a broad range of Technology skill sets  Completion of relevant industry training certifications such as IC3, Strata IT Fundamentals, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNA security, Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft server 2008  Ability to build, configure and troubleshoot hardware systems for computers, laptops, printer, network devices, and mobile devices  Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook  Knowledge of network technology concepts like IP addressing, Ethernet cabling, routing protocols, network security, firewalls, data security, VPN, and others  Clear understanding of the skills and knowledge required in technology careers
  • 2. Professionalism balanced with cultural sensitivity, integrity and objectivity  Open-minded and willing to consider alternative ideas or points of view  Adjusts readily to different situations  Effective time management, prioritization, planning and efficiency skills  Willingness to upgrade knowledge and skills where necessary  Ability and willingness to travel Review of Submissions: Submissions shall be evaluated using the following criteria:  Experience of contractor and ability to meet the requirements.  Ability to deliver the requirements when and where required.  Proven experience in delivering similar scope of work.  Education training and technical qualifications and capabilities.  Quality of proposal.  References. Working Agreement The successful contractor will enter into a contract for services with the FNTC based upon the information contained in this request for proposal and the successful contractors' submission and any modifications thereto. Contractors may include their standard terms of engagement with the Proposal.
