WHAT IS ACADEMIC REPORT WRITING
 Academic writing has its own set of rules and
practices.
 Academic writing is different because it deals with
the underlying theories and causes governing
processes and practices in everyday life, as well as
exploring alternative explanations for these events.
 Academic writing follows a particular ‘tone’ and
adheres to traditional conventions of punctuation,
grammar, and spelling.
EXAMPLE FOR ACADEMIC REPORT WRITING
BUSINESS REPORT WRITING
 Business reports are a type of assignment in which you
analyze a situation (either a real situation or a case
study) and apply business theories to produce a range
of suggestions for improvement.
 Business reports are typically assigned to enable you to:
Apply business and management theory to
a practical situation.
Demonstrate your analytical, reasoning,
and evaluation skills in identifying and weighing-up
possible solutions and outcomes.
Show concise and clear communication
skills.

Editor's Notes

  1. Scientific and engineering can be usually considered as academic report writing because it holds up theise ,methodolgies and research work
  2. overall aims and specific objectives (unless included in terms of reference) method/procedure used (unless included in separate section) key findings main conclusions and recommendations overall aims and specific objectives (unless included in terms of reference) method/procedure used (unless included in separate section) key findings main conclusions and recommendations overall aims and specific objectives (unless included in terms of reference) method/procedure used (unless included in separate section) key findings main conclusions and recommendations
  3. And finally overall, does the report fulfil its purpose? Does it do what you’re being asked to do and what you say you’re going to do in your introduction? Are you pleased with it? If you can’t confidently answer “yes” to these questions, then you may need to do some major editing and rewriting. And finally overall, does the report fulfil its purpose?
