1. Report on the kick - off meeting at AOC de Groene Welle in Zwolle for the
Comenius project 2009 – 2011.
Participants; From the Perez de Ayala school in Oviedo in Spain there
were Juan Carlos Tascón and Bernard William Lavelle, from the Alfred-
Delp-Realschule in Niederkassel-Mondorf in Germany there were Stanka
Bos and Martina Nimz, from Brookfield Community School and Language
College in Southampton there were Kevin Staniland and Jennifer Slater
and from AOC de Groene Welle in Zwolle there were Martina Birk –
Schlotthauer and Mariëlle van Koppen. Our official Co-ordinator Harrie
Meijer was mostly present as well.
All participants agreed that we had a very inspirational meeting. Many
teaching ideas were exchanged as well as much insight on each others’
work and schools.
The presentations by each school were very interesting, informative and
enlightening for all.
Besides fixing dates and locations of future meetings time was spent on
formulating drafts on projects, activities and student participation.
30 November 2009 – 2 December 2009 – Southampton
22 March 2010 – 24 March 2010 – Niederkassel
26 May 2010 – 28 May 2010 – Oviedo
It was agreed that the hosting school would be responsible for the
organisation of the meetings and finding host families for accompanying
students.
We composed the best ways for our students to communicate between
themselves. E.g. blog, videos, e-mails. We agreed upon starting a network
and a website, www.tagprojects.eu (awaiting further information).
We made provisional plans for expanding our project out of the walls of
the classrooms. In order to reach out to many more pupils in the school
and our respective colleagues and surrounding communities.
Whilst we were here, participants in the spirit of “Thinking and Acting
Green”, experienced the wide variety of aspects of culture in and around
Zwolle by touring around on bikes.
2. Visiting participants were particularly inspired by the Groene Welle’s ways
of incorporating practical and theoretical work in and out of the classroom
and school.
Now that we are all inspired we eagerly await our next meeting in
Southampton.
