ICANN 78 Mentoring process starts from today
Dear all,
My name is Shreedeep Rayamajhi and I will be your mentor for the ICANN79 Meeting. I have been
2. involved with the ICANN community at different levels and positions. I had the opportunity to work
as the Regionalchair of the Social Media Working Group At Large and the APRALO Policy Forum, and
I hope to have a great learning experience from you.

For communication purposes, I would like to suggest a communication medium, other than email
communication, we can decide which communication platform and/or social media we are all
comfortable with for our communication. Please add yourself to the whats app group
1.Whats app

I shall be setting upa Communication Group for us so that we can COMMUNICATE EASILY and get
together every other week for about 30 minutes to have a quick chat and opportunity to ask
questions. Our first session may be a little longer as we go through introductions and get an outline
for how we will work together moving forward. I have set up a Doodle poll with some suggested
times to find the most reasonable time period forus to meet. Please fill it by Sunday.

Once we get started, I will be facilitating your introduction to ICANNusing the ICANN Learn website.
This ICANN Learn experience is a requirement for all new and some returning fellows. Though I know
some of you will be more aware than others about this information, weall will move through various
courses designed to help you betterunderstand ICANN and how the work of ICANN is completed with
a fresh set of eyes. I do encourage everyone to visit the ICANN website to keep updated on hot topics
that will be discussed at the meeting, aswell as referring to the ICANN meeting website which will
provide you with the complete information about the meeting.
https://meetings.icann.org/en/icann79
The schedule of sessions for the full week will also be posted at this site closer to the meeting. In the
schedule, you will see that there will be different track sessions; you have to follow the
FellowshipTrack in particular and others at your own choice. If you are part of a fellowship group,
please keep looking at group discussions, which are helpful for everyone. I would like to kick things
off by asking for an introductory email from each of you so that we as a team get to know each other
better.

7. This program is organized by Learn Internet Governance where the Q/A was managed by Amina Ramallan
ICANN 79 Fellow/ UA Ambassador. The program will discuss the importance and priorities of UA in our
communities. UA has been an important topic in developing economies, where there are communities with
multiple languages and dialects. The importance and priorities of promoting one's own language and
dialogue have been a major challenge at the local level, where English is the standard and more or less the
way of communication.

Tips in ICANN
1. Be visible in the photos and use social media exclusively
2. Speak in the mic with case studies and good suggestions and comments
3. Always be polite and courteous
13. 4. If you are interested in any group. first subscribe their discussion list and than add the people in
the social media especially LinkedIn
5. Always be available to participate with others don't be too rigid and follow a circle
6. ICANN is all about networks and community engagement
7. Being a fellow you have a role and responsibilities always have it in mind
14. ICANN 79 Day 1 Morning Meeting
ICANN 79 Day 2 Morning Meeting
15. ICANN 79 Day 3 Morning Meeting
Networking and Talking with other fellows
17. ICANN 79 Day 5 Morning Meeting
ICANN 79 Day 6 Morning Meeting
18.
19. Suggestion and Recommendation:
1. Ice breaking session suggestion for all fellows as it is a must so that they open up on the first
day and engagement becomes comfortable
2. Profile and record to be maintained of fellows on marking basis so that it would be easy to
keep of track of their progress now and later
3. A collaborative session of all mentors and all fellows is a must for better engagement
4. On site engagement and collaboration so that once they are motivated they can be directed
to their communities
5. A lot of the times fellows stick around with their own groups and people only, that group
directs its preferences so we have to mix them up so that there is more fluidity in their
learning behavior
6. Fellows meetings with all the RALOs leadership as a session is a must
7. Fellows introduction to the RALOs is an important step where the respected RALOs can be
further guide and work on their engagement. It needs to be adopted in introduction phase so
that after the announcement of the Fellowship they are integrated in the respective RALOs
and the RALOs take charge of them to further nurture them. We did this as our fellows of
Atlarge attended their respected RALOs meeting and introduced themselves as fellows of
ICANN78 so that they were comfortable.
8. Fellows are the ambassadors of Fellowship program so their engagement in the ICANN booth
with their mentors is a learning experience and a first step towards engagement
9. Fellows social media engagements is much needed for the promotion and engagement of
ICANN fellowship program ( we need good awards to motivate their skill and energy)
10. Guiding Communication session especially for fellows is needed for planning better
engagement in their communities. A session about engagement activities or what to do?
A lot of them are confused regarding their engagement in the community.
11. Fellows engagement in the community needs to be monitored or handed over to the
community leaders
