This document provides a description of the tree nut species Areca catechu. It describes the scientific classification of the species, the physical form and features of the tree including its height, canopy, leaves, flowers, and fruit. It notes that the fruit is an elongated ovoid shape called a betel nut. 2. FORM OF TREE NUT Straight slender rods, can reach a height of 25 m in diameter ca. 15 cm, although some are larger. Canopy is not dense. Midrib leaf-shaped tube with a length of 80 cm, petiole short; leaf blade length to 80 cm, young leaves of 85 x 5 cm, with torn and jagged edge. 3. ARECA NUT Fruit Buni inverted elongate ovoid, orange red, length 3.5 to 7 cm, with a fibrous fruit wall. An egg-shaped seeds, and have a picture like nets. In Java, areca nut grows to a height of 1400 m above sea level.
