1. Red
pandas
The Red Panda is a small cat-like animal related to the giant black white panda but
they are endangered so they’re quite rare.
The Red Panda is a small red bear. They have an orange face but also some Red
Pandas have a plain white face. The Red Panda’s tummy area is black down to the
feet and they have white ears and noses. Red Pandas are usually (50 to 65
centimetres high) these pandas grow to the size of an average house cat. Their big
bushy tale adds another 18 centimetres to their length. The average weight of a Red
Panda is 5.4 to 9 kg.
Red Pandas have strong taste for bamboo but unlike their big relatives they have a
big diet of fruit, acorns and eggs.
The Red Pandas mostly live their lives up and running along trees but sadly the nice,
fluffy animal is endangered and are very rare you, may see one in zoo if you are
lucky.
2. Red Pandas originated from china but have
migrated into lots of other countries, such as:
India, Laos and Nepal.
Red Pandas are able to mate at around about 18
months. A few days before birth, the parents
will go and collect materials to build a nest,
materials such as: bark, twigs leaves and grass.
Their nests are located in a hollow tree or in a hollow bush or on a rock surface.
When born, different cubs can recognise their parents by smell.
Red Pandas are territorial. They are generally quiet, apart from whistling and
communicating with their sounds. They have been reported to be nocturnal and
crepuscular, sleeping on tree branches, large bush areas and tree hollows.
Sleeping in the day time then extending their activity in the late afternoon.
I have a strong belief that we should respect Red Pandas and take more notice of
how their numbers have been decreasing. I hope in time they will come off the
endangered list. `
