Describe and Model:
1. Review repeated addition.
Write the first problem on the board from the activity. The problem asks
the students to place 2 stars in each circle. Have students draw two stars
in each circle as I do on the board. Then ask students: We have how
many groups of what? (2 groups of 2). Fill in the numbers on the line as
students do so on their sheet. Then show that the multiplication problem
is 2 x 2. So two time two equals 4. Now let's look at the bottom line
where it says write a repeated addition sentence. We would write 2 + 2
=4 because if we look back at our picture we have 2 stars in each group
so we add them together to get our product.

groups and the second number tells us how many in each group.
