explaining the benefits of renewable
energy.
According to a recent article in The Seattle
Times, California has seen record highs in
solar energy generation and plans to invest
in additional solar harvesting systems.

3.  The state’s solar energy efforts are driven by
financial incentives, as well as legislation
that requires utilities to generate 33 percent
of their power from renewable energy
sources by the 2020 deadline.
The article notes that earlier in 2014, a
record-setting six percent of the power from
the California Independent System
Operator was from solar energy.

4.  Because solar intake is highest around
midday and peak demand is in the
evening, the state is currently planning
on purchasing new energy storage
systems to capture energy for later use.
The California Public Utilities Commission
is aiming to store 1.3 gigawatts of solar
by 2020, which could power more than a
million residences.
