RemeOsTM alloy is a magnesium-calcium-zinc alloy developed for biodegradable implant applications. It has properties well-suited for bone repair, including strength and elasticity similar to bone. Magnesium supports bone growth and is non-toxic. Clinical trials showed RemeOsTM screws fully degraded within 2-3 years while maintaining strength for fracture healing, with no device removals needed. X-rays confirmed fracture healing and screw degradation over time periods up to 3 years, demonstrating the safe and effective use of RemeOsTM for fracture fixation.
Bone replacement grafts are widely used to promote
bone formation and periodontal regeneration.
Xenografts are grafts shared between different species.
Currently, there are two available sources of xenografts
used as bone replacement grafts in periodontics: bovine
bone and natural coral.
Abstract
Background: We set out to determine the possibility of radiographically evaluating the degree of marginal bone loss in humans after functional loading of implants at sites of guided bone regeneration (GBR) with autogenous tooth-based bone graft (ATBBG) material (AutoBT®, Korea Tooth Bank, Seoul, Korea).
Materials and Methods: Using ATBBG material, GBR procedures were performed on the extraction sockets with bone defects such as buccal dehiscence and 6 months of healing was allowed. Dental implants were installed and prosthetic procedures were done after another 6 months of healing. Marginal bone levels (MBLs) were radiographically measured following functional loading (mean duration, 10 months; range, 4–18 months) in 10 patients among 19 patients initially enrolled in this study (4 men and 6 women; age range, 39–65 years; mean age, 55.4 years) who maintained follow-up visits after entire surgical and prosthetic procedures.
Results: No significant MBL differences were noted immediately after GBR, implant placement and prosthesis delivery (F=0.245, P>0.05). Changes in the MBLs were not affected by gender.
Conclusion: The ATBBG material is viable for GBR and can yield a stable MBL even after functional loading of implants. The degree of marginal bone loss after loading with ATBBG is stable.

PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert
In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

2. RemeOs™ alloy = Mg-Ca-Zn
• Magnesium and magnesium alloys are light metals, which are characterized by low
density, high specific strength, and strong specific stiffness. The fracture toughness of
magnesium is greater than that of ceramic biomaterials such as hydroxyapatite. The
Young’s elastic modulus and compressive yield strength of magnesium are closer to
those of cortical bone.
• Especially, Mg2+ is present in large amounts in the human body and involved in many
metabolic reactions and biological mechanisms. The human body usually contains
approximately 35g per 70kg body weight and the human body’s daily demand for Mg
is about 350 mg/day.
• It has been shown that magnesium enhances osteogenesis response and increases new
bone formation.
• It is well known that pure magnesium has poor mechanical properties, and the
mechanical properties of magnesium can be effectively improved by the appropriate
selection of alloying elements.
• Ca is an important element of human bones. The mechanical properties and
biocompatibility can be adjusted by controlling the Ca content and processing
treatment.
• Zn is one of the abundant nutritional elements in the human body. Additionally,
it improves the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of Mg alloys
• The mechanical properties and corrosion rate of the Mg-Zn-Ca alloys can be tailored by
the Zn and Ca content.
3. Magnesium alloy absorption: Chemistry
• RemeOs™ absorbable metal is magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca) and Zinc
(Zn) alloy, which degrades from the surface due to physiological fluids
according to the following reaction1) to form magnesium hydroxide,
magnesium-containing calcium phosphates and as a by-product
hydrogen gas
Mg2+, Zn2+ and Ca2+ ions are dissolved from Mg alloy implant,
Local pH near the surface of the Mg could be >10
As a result, a magnesium-containing calcium phosphate precipitates from the physiological
fluids and deposits on the surface of the magnesium implant. Phosphate containing Mg/Ca
degradation layer is tightly attached to the matrix and creates an osteopromotive layer
