Veterinary Surgeon and Partner
at Lower House Equine Clinic
in Shropshire. Simon graduated from The University of
Liverpool in 2006 and went straight into a large equine
practice for ten years. His main interests include equine
lameness, poor performance and orthopaedic surgery.
Simon is the assistant vet for the British Show Jumping
team, and is also an FEI Vet. He works at many local British
Eventing competitions which include international events.

HOW DOES LIPOGEMS
EQUINE WORK?
The simplest description for the non-
scientific mind is that the process of
the treatment replicates what would
naturally happen in an injury situation.
Adipose tissue (fat) is collected using
liposuction from around the tailhead
under standing sedation. The tissue
is micro-fragmented in the Lipogems
canister, triggering the horses own
damage response mechanism,
washed in saline solution and collected
through a filter in a syringe, which is
then injected into the injury site. The
procedure takes under an hour and
can be done stable-side. Rehabilitation
usually follows a period of box rest
