Pastor Matt Mickelson has served at Calvary Baptist Church for 15 years, first as youth pastor and then associate pastor. He and his wife Beth revitalized the youth group and regularly took mission trips with the church. As associate pastor, Pastor Mickelson has been a skilled preacher, teacher, and coordinator of various church ministries. Letter of reference for Pastor Matt Mickelson:
Pastor Matt has been a great friend since I first met him and his wife, Beth, along
with their three children when they first came to Calvary Baptist in 2000 as our
youth pastor.
He and Beth infused new life into our youth group and we saw God bless this
ministry in a wonderful way. As they matured in Christ, our group grew and
flourished under their leadership as they faithfully taught Biblical life principles.
They also had many outreach activities and trips to help them gain experience in
sharing their faith and in discipleship. As a missionary surgeon, I was delighted for
their vision to come on a missions trip to Togo, W. Africa in 2007. They came with a
team of over 20 where they saw medical missions first hand and were engaged in
our local African churches doing DVBS which made a great impact our Togolese
youth but even more so the members of the team. As a result of this trip, several of
them are preparing for missionary service, one of them as a missionary physician.
It is great to see them regularly take an out of the country missions trip and involve
the whole church in their lives.
As parents became more involved with the ministry and took on more
responsibility, Pastor Matt was promoted to Associate Pastor and has been a
tremendous help to our church and our senior pastor. He has become a skilled
preacher and teacher of the Word in both our Sunday School for teens and adults.
We always enjoy his excellent preaching and Bible studies. He is currently Shepard
ing our church after the homegoing of our current pastor. He has coordinated all the
teachers/helpers for the Sunday School Ministry, Children’s Church, visitation of our
church members and visitors.
We just recently learned that God has opened up a special opportunity for he and his
wife, Beth, to move to Bois, ID. We will greatly miss their vibrant ministry with us
over the past 15 years. As they search for a new church home in your area, we
know that God will greatly bless you and your church as they minister with you in
whatever capacity you have a need and opportunity for them to serve. They will
bless your lives richly as God leads in their lives.
