REEEP was established to accelerate RE/EE focusing on underdeveloped and emerging economies  REEEP acts as a  market facilitator  by reducing market barriers for renewables and energy efficiency systems through focus on: policy/regulation development and improvement finance and business models REEEP is driven by a  bottom-up  approach to meet the real needs on the ground REEEP works with  governments  as well as with the  private sector REEEP is committed to the achievement of MDGs and aims to  improve access  to sustainable clean energy for the poor REEEP is unique in  combining  the benefit of renewables and energy efficiency

Energy efficiency technology transformation  in metal-casting in southern India Accelerate adoption of cleaner and more energy-efficient technology in the Coimbatore cluster of foundries   Strengthen local supply side delivery systems and increase industry demand for the new technology Enhance capacity of at least 20 local service providers Train at least 100 furnace operators  Implement three energy efficiency technology projects at cluster level Save 275,000 MWh energy per year  Reduce CO2 emissions by 100,000 tonnes per year Project partner:  The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI)

Combined legislative and financial mechanisms for solar water heater mass rollout  Increase the uptake of solar water heaters (SWH) in Cape Town and Ekurhuleni through legislation and financial mechanisms Support for City of Cape Town leading to implementation of SWH bylaw  leading to: additional 10,000 SWH units pa 6.25 MW pa, saving 20,000 t CO2 pa Development an energy efficient water heating bylaw for Ekurhuleni Creation of SWH financing mechanisms that can accelerate mass rollout across South Africa  Project partners: Sustainable Energy Africa (SEA), City of Cape Town and Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality
