APPERENCE AND BEHAVIOR
The bald eagle has a beautiful appearance
and an odd behavior. For instance, the call
sounds like: wee wee wur wur, and the
feathers on its body and head make it
STANDOUT! The word Bald is an old English
word for white, so don’t worry the Bald
eagle is not actual bald. As weird as it
sounds, the bald eagle has eye sight like a
human, it can see in color, when most
animals can’t. You can identify it by the
bright head and tail and its dark body. The
Bald Eagles Appearance is what makes it
stand out!
U.S.A. BIRD
“Do you know how the bald eagle got to be
the national emblem? “Well I can tell you.
John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas
Jefferson got to chose the National Emblem
on July 4,1776. Ben thought a wild turkey
would fit perfectly. The Bald Eagle is a
sacred animal to native Americans. In 1782
William Burton drew a picture of the bald
Eagle for the congress. The Congress
enjoyed the picture and from there on the
bald Eagle was the National Emblem.
FLYING
The bald Eagle has an amazing way of flying.
To help the bird fly, it has broad wings and a
large wingspan. Hollow bones help it to be
light weight and help for flying. If you
haven’t seen them before, the Bald eagle is
beautiful in flight. The Bald eagle has many
techniques for flying and soaring. The Bald
Eagle is a great flyer.
BREEDING
The bald eagle spends more the half of its life finding a
mate, producing eggs and nesting, this is called
BREEDING. To find a mate, a male Bald Eagle will let out a
aerie call to the females which surprising sounds like a
crying song or a baby yelling. Once a female becomes
interested in the male the couple go off to build a nest
called an aerie so that the female can lay her spotless
white eggs she will produce four eggs and in two weeks
top they will break through their shell and turn into a
beautiful brown eaglet. Doing this process takes good
parenting, putting others before them self and time for
the Bald Eagles.
HUNTING
Every day the Bald Eagle has to hunt to survive. The bald eagle
manly feeds on fish so they have to live near a body of water.
To catch the fish, they pear over the water then when they spot
a fish they dive down to the water one eagle was spotted diving
at 100 miles per hour down. Then they open their talons and
the updraft lifts them in the air from the water with hopefully a
fresh caught fish in its talons. Then they go to a nearby tree to
eat, they use they curved beak to tear apart their prey. The
bald eagle’s beak, talons and skills helps them to eat every day!
