1. You need to access Reading Plus through your student portal.
2. If you cannot login to your portal at home, then you may access the
program through www.readingplus.com, and enter hia117 as the site
key.
3. You are required to log onto the program and complete 3 sessions per
week. Each session includes a warm-up, comprehension and vocabulary,
and takes 30 minutes to complete. This will be checked weekly (see the
schedule on back) and you will be given 30 points for completion
(Comprehension and Vocabulary) and 20 points for your average score in
Intensive Reading (Periods 2, 4, 6).

4. The Reading Plus program states that this program will greatly improve
your reading skills and increase your FCAT scores in reading if you try
your hardest and complete a minimum of 40 sessions before you take the
FCAT. Thus, you must put in maximum effort to see results. Prizes and
recognition will be given to students making improvements in their
reading.
5. If you do not have a computer or internet access at home, you can
complete these assignments at a relative or friend’s house. Additionally,
you can go to the public library, use the school’s library during lunch, or
use a computer in Ms. Allen’s room when we are finished early in class
one day or if you finish early in another class. Not having a computer or
internet access at your home is not an excuse for not completing these
assignments.
