About R +Co.
The Core of R+Co
R+Co is a collective of editorial and salon stylists and educators, with a combined
century of knowledge and experience. This ensures that there is more than one
viewpoint in everything R+Co does.
R+Co is grounded in creating a dialogue between the broader stylist community
and to celebrate the culture of hairdressing. They advocate for stylists and clients to
find the point of view and style that best matches their own.
All of the products are treatment oriented, with the health of the hair and scalp
viewed as the most important. This is achieved through unique ingredients and
complexes to make sure that each product delivers benefits.
All products are formulated without parabens, sulfates, mineral oil and petrolatum. All
products are vegan, cruelty and gluten free, color safe and offer UV protection.
R+Co is about an experience. The packaging and fragrances were designed to
enhance this experience and invoke a feeling, place, image, etc. The packaging makes
it clear what the product is meant to do and the fragrances are subtle, sophisticated and
unisex.

R+Co is a game-changing line of high-performance hair products created by top stylists
to celebrate the beauty of hair and the spirit of artistic collaboration.
R+Co is a challenge to do things differently, a disruption to the status quo and the way
things are now; brings inspiration and a challenge to the stylist and salon owner.
Started to make products from photographs, taking mages they felt strongly about, their
styles. What makes R+Co different is the way they look at creating products and the
need they see from stylists.
Genius is that there are different products for different types of hair, looks, etc.; it all
comes back to a specific style
Packaging and Imaging
The products and packaging are meant to be modern, unisex, fun, and sophisticated.
Based on something classic but making it modern and on the next level.
Want it to be an experience; they chose to use real words people can understand and
relate to, to evoke an experience. Going with this idea, the products names were chose
for an instantly associated visual
Use of stock packaging and stock imagery or self shot imagery, allowed them to keep at
the price point below $30, allowing for mass marketing.

Education is fundamental to R+Co. The team has a wealth of knowledge and they have
to find a way to get it to clients, to hairdressers.

Garren
Garren is a fashion hair icon and one of the world’s go-to hairstylist and style experts.
Garren is trusted by industry photographers, editors, designers, and celebrities to create
trademark transformations, ad campaigns and editorials.
Garren has more than 1,000 magazine covers to his credit and is consistently featured
in Vogue, Allure, Italian Vogue, W and Interview. He has collaborated with the industry’s
best photographers including Patrick Demerchelier, Steven Meisel, and Mario Sorrenti.
His trendsetting haircuts and styles for prominent fashion models and celebrities have
made global impact, with followers including Naomi Campbell, Karlie Kloss, Madonna,
Linda Evangelista and Lady Gaga.
Garren brings his exquisite eye and vast styling experience to R+Co, understanding
better than anyone how to explain each product and how it can be used to achieve the
style desired.
For the team, in developing R+Co it was all about product. The products R+Co
designed are ones he would use privately. Development was like a group of
hairdressers picking apart what they love and making it simple.
Garren, who typically works with models on shoots, created a full range of shampoos
and conditioners (there are five) that keep the hair in its best possible condition for
styling.

Howard McLaren
McLaren has been the creative director of some of the biggest and most influential
brands in the industry, including Toni & Guy and Bumble and bumble.
He is often credited with re-establishing razor cutting as a true technique.
McLaren began his career by photographing all of his work, something that has
informed his approach to cutting and styling. He finds that the individual’s personal style
and the function of the look that dictate what is right.
McLaren briefly stepped back from education and opened Whitehouse in LA with
Amanda Wall, a space that explored hair, photography, film, interiors, and the customer
experience.
McLaren’s goal for R+Co is to create a brand identity that will attract, inspire, and push
both hairdressers and consumers to want, expect, and eventually, demand more.
He believes that R+Co is here to fill a void in the hairdressing industry, stating, “What’s
missing these days is originality in brands”
McLaren returned to education because he saw a need from hairdressers and wants
R+Co to be a true place of learning.
McLaren brings a West Coast sensibility, fine-tuning the sea-salt sprays and styling
creams.

Thom Priano
Priano is one of the world’s top men’s groomers and is an equally talented women’s
stylist; he’s what some call a “lifestyle stylist.”
He is not focused solely on the hair but all of the elements that go into creating personal
style, and an amazing photograph.
Priano has shaped the perception of what men should look like, through his work on
Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Chanel and Abercrombie campaigns to celebrity clients like
Brad Pitt, Tyson Beckford, Justin Timberlake and David Bowie.
Priano’s magazine credits include GQ, Details and Men’s Vogue, working with every
major photographer including Bruce Weber and Annie Leibovitz.
Priano brings his expertise in men’s hair car to R+Co, rounding out the collective.
Priano, with his experience in men's grooming, finessed many of the line's waxes and
pastes, creating moldable, pliable textures for men and women with short hair
