UA PCD IT Security – 2014-2016: The Upstream America PCD (Process Control Domain) IT
Security project, for Shell Canada & USA Unconventionals and Insitu assets managing a team of 8 PCD
specialists to ensure successful execution of this project. The function of these systems are to measure,
transmit, manipulate, display and store data for the purpose of process control, safeguarding, monitoring
and optimization. The PCD systems are also subject to security vulnerabilities which, if not adequately
protected, can give riseto inadvertent or intentional loss of production,capacity or control.
Quest Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) – 2013-2015. Shell Quest is a fully integrated Carbon Capture
(Transport) and Storage (CCS) project that will capture and store up to 1.2 million tonnes of Carbon
dioxide (CO2) per year from the Scotford Upgrader. A MMV (Measurement, Monitoring and Verification)

process was used to monitor and measure any spills or leaks of CO2 once stored underground. Four
domains (geosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, atmosphere) are being monitored. This MMV process
resulted in two projects. Project Manager on the WRFM IT Toolkit project provides real-time
alarm/alert/event visualization and CO2 monitoring data for identification of compliance and/or leakage
identification and the SampleManager application used to store manually collected soil, air and water
samples for analysisand reportingpurposes.
OIA 2008 – 2013 – A complex custom builtapplication named Operations Integrity Assurance(OIA),
partnered with two external vendors, one providingoff the shelf software and one developingcustom
code. This custom application was initiated in 2008,and the completed in 2013 (one of the longest
runningprojects at Shell). OIA is a real-timeprocess designed to help operating sites ensurethat the
facilities arebeingoperated and maintained accordingto identified specificationsand alertof non-
compliance.
eWIMS – 2008 – 2009 – (Electronic Well Integrity Management System) is a web-based, Shell
application thatprovides a completely transparentview of the integrity related data for every singlewell
that Shell operates in order to maximizethe liveexpectancy of the well. Implementation covered Shell
Canada Unconventional Gas and Heavy Oil sites.
