An astounding number of tech innovations around the globe are fueled by talent from Ukraine. You might not realize it, but you have benefited from them if you’ve used Ford’s in-car infotainment system, Reuters' award-winning photography app, Nokia’s customer retail experience, or Deutsche Bank’s Risk Management System.
People are starting to take notice. Last month George Soros announced that he made a significant investment in a tech firm in Ukraine. He has a solid record of making big bets ahead of the curve. Razom/IT invites you to explore that part of Ukraine.

Ukraine: more than just another outsourcing destination” by Alex Golod, InteticsIntetics
The presentation highlights the latest social and economic trends in the country, discusses why Ukraine is becoming a hot outsourcing destination based on its industry growth, its access to a skilled well educated talent pool, and the government support. Special emphasis is placed on the favorable environment for direct investments in next few years, as well as expected growth of M&A activity in the country. In conclusion, the argument is made that Ukraine will gain prominence as ITO and especially BPO hot destination within next 3 to 5 years.

Hromadske Radio is an NGO founded by a group of professional broadcasting journalists who came together in 2013 to launch an independent public radio for the Ukrainian audience. Their tagline is Listen.Think.

Razom IT Speaker Series: Converting a Tram Depot into a creative space in Lviv: Razom For Ukraine
Ilia Kenigshtein, project founder and CEO of "Creative Quarter" and former managing partner of Hybrid Capital, has a unique perspective on the landscape of the Ukrainian IT and innovation community. He is a serial entrepreneur with a string of interesting projects in Ukraine and in Israel.
Ilia is now an advisor to the Lviv City Mayor on innovations and investments. He is also an initiator and key driver of the Lviv Smart City program to promote the sustainable development of the region and to create decent conditions for working and living taking into account safety, mobility and comfort of city residents.
Now he is working on nothing less than transforming the innovation culture in Lviv region. His current project is to design and build a Creative Quarter over 16,000 square meters of what is now a depot of trams. Creative Quarter will combine spaces for work, creativity, learning, leisure and entertainment. It will become the place to bring together all major technological and creative threads of Ukrainian entrepreneurs, developers, journalists, advertisers, artists and public figures. Right in the center of Lviv.
The project already has support from Lviv’s business establishment, including many leading philosophers, artists, politicians, opinion leaders, business guys, managers and young entrepreneurs in town. Project's strategic partners include Intel, Cisco, HP, Ericsson, Microsoft and Schneider Electric. We got full support from Lviv City Council.
Artem Borodatyuk (Artem Borodatyuk), co-founder of the platform for social good, “Moy Gorod” (http://en.mg.od.ua/ - english language landing page) visited New York and shared his experience of launching an online platform in Odessa, Ukraine that gets citizens to create and implement projects to make their city more livable. He calls it a marketplace of social projects and civic activists.
Two years after the Maidan protests mobilized a country, Ukraine is going through big reforms at the top. What is happening on each block of each city? Are citizens engaged? How do you transform the drive of a revolution into the boring slog of day-to-day reforms? How do you do all that after decades of Soviet rule which encouraged inaction and a separation between the governed and those who govern?
Artem has tackled all these massive questions head on. He has launched an online crowdfunding and collaboration platform that citizens are using now to pick up garbage, to improve public phone booths, to find ways to cop with stray animals, and much more. Hear from this serial entrepreneur how his venture has over 1500 registered users and 8 live projects in less than half a year.
