Reflection On Group Work
This paper will reflect upon the experience of working in a group to produce a poster in partnership
with Lloyd and Kemi. The difficulties and challenges faced will be outlined along with the advantages
and disadvantages of group work. I will seek to be honest about how I felt and will reflect on the final
outcome of our project. Difficulties and Challenges By nature, I am an introvert and deeply reflective.
This at times can be an advantage, allowing me to look at the diamond nature of truth from different
angles. For Group work, however, this is a noticeable hindrance. Working in a group is the last thing I
expected for the first assignment, but I was prepared to take on this challenge and set aside my
negative preconceptions. We began strong, meeting in the Library and immediately delegating tasks. I
arranged to travel to Aylesbury in order to make progress on the project with Lloyd and discovered he
lived five minutes away from my mum! Kemi was unable to join us on this occasion, but we updated
her via Face Time. The project seemed to be gaining traction: we had done research, we had a rough
idea of the content and we were all encouraged by the progress. The first difficulty, however, came in
week 2. I had begun Greek on Mondays and was immediately thrust into a world previously unknown.
It was a thrilling challenge that opened up scores of exegetical insights, but the weekly translation
exercises began to eat away at my time. One of my great weaknesses is the inability

Stem cells are at the center of a new field of science...
Stem cells are at the center of a new field of science called regenerative medicine. Stem cells are
unique cells that are unspecialized and have the ability to proliferate and develop into many different
cell types by forming more daughter cells, which become new stem cells or differentiate to become
specialized cells. They have the potential to treat diseases, such as Parkinson s, diabetes and cancer.
They may be used to rejuvenate organs, reducing the need for organ transplants. The discovery of
stem cells is a rapid progressing field in medicine and research. Stem cells come from several origins
in the body and are capable of surviving over long periods. They are most commonly; adult stem cells,
human embryonic stem cells and induced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For induced pluripotent stem cells, viruses are currently used to introduce embryonic genes and have
been shown to cause cancers in mouse studies, which may be harmful for human. Embryonic stem
cells might trigger an immune response, whereby, the recipient s body attacks the stem cells as foreign
invaders, or fail to function typically. It is imperative for researches to clarify and tackle ethical issues
to ensure that the uses of stem cells are accepted by the community. It is important that scientists
pursue stem cell research while treasuring lives. Stem cell therapy advocates the reparative response
of diseased, dysfunctional or injured tissue using stem cells. Regenerative medicine holds the promise
of ways to repair cardiovascular damage and improved cancer treatment. Stem cells are used to treat
leukemia, some joint repairs and repair the liver. The adult stem cells used to treat autism comes from
the human umbilical cord tissue. The role of stem cell therapies has brought the success level of
scientists higher as they are soon to discover treatments for more diseases. Research on stem cells
continues to advance knowledge about how healthy cells reinstate damaged cells in adult organisms.
The potential for future medical use is promising because stem cell research is a highly engrossing
area of contemporary biology that is leading to a changing landscape in healthcare. However, much

Interview A Wonderful Woman Who Is An Educator, Wife And...
I was given the opportunity to interview a wonderful woman who is an educator, wife and mother.
Helen or Ms. Helen as her 4k students know her as, is always there with an open ear and wonderful
advice. She works with each child in their own way, preparing them for preschool. She really believes
that there is a light in every child that should be seen by the world. With the encouragement of a
teacher like her, children will be able to spread their wings to become who they are truly meant to be.
It was only a few years ago when Helen decided to change her lifestyle by working with children.
Having four children of her own, she understood how important having a good role model for children
was. She sets high expectations for her family, students and for herself by being confident of who she
is and what she represents. She understands that good role models are open and honest about
admitting fault if they make a mistake. She is a strong enough person now to understand and see the
mistakes she has made in her past. She keeps in mind everyday, why God brought her into this world
and to find the message she needs to share. Helen grew up in River Falls WI with a family of eight,
her being the second youngest where quietness was not a word. As kids they all liked to get into their
own trouble such as, flying off the roof with a garbage bag as a cape. They were all fun loving kids
with a lot of responsibilities. Having so many siblings meant keeping up on the housework, tend to

Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning .
Right from my childhood I was very curious to know about the animals from a small pet like a cat to a
huge racing horse, my hidden curiosity prompted me to have a keen interest to these amazing
creatures immediately. Even when I was in my junior high school I could get little hint for the
questions through biology especially zoology. This led me to like these subjects and enabled me to
excel and pass out of high school.
I got through Science in the stream of biology for secondary school because of the immense interest
towards the living beings on this earth I narrowed down on opting for Bachelor Of Veterinary Science
as it was a great opportunity to me to show love affectionate towards the real amazing creatures of this
world I hope they are none other than animals who cannot speak but can express their feelings Which

The Extent at Which Peer Group Affect Students Academic...
The Extent to which Peer Groups Affect Academic Performance Have you ever wondered about the
extent to which peer groups affect academic performance? Make no mistake; a peer group can impact
your child s academic performance significantly. However, to say that one s peer group is the most
influential factor in academic performance isn t true either. Let s take a look at just how influential one
s peer group is. [pic] The Extent to Which Peer Groups Affect Academic Performance To answer the
question, to what extent do peer groups affect academic performance, in quantifiable terms is actually
quite difficult. There are numerous variables to consider, however, here are a few statistics: [pic][pic]

Parental Involvement Across the board, when taken into account with other factors including ethnicity,
socio economic factors, and even education of parents parental involvement is the single most
influential factor in academic success. Teens who have parents who are involved in their lives and
generally know what s going on at school are more likely to attend four year colleges. Positive Role
Models Positive adult role models help solidify a student s path on the road to academic achievement.
Be it a mentor, or someone in the family, a role model can make a big difference. Setting high
expectations for a student can make that student think twice before engaging in risky behavior that
might disappoint his mentor. Education as a Value Students who believed that education was a means
to pursue something higher and/or believed that education was valuable tend to do better in school.
One may well argue that this attitude again stems from parents, although teachers can play a
significant role as well. How Influential Are Peer Groups? It would seem that while peer groups are
fairly influential,

Futuristic Rights In Blade Runner
Futuristic Rights Manmade beings were created as slaves for humanity. These beings are called
replicants. Blade Runner, a science fiction film set in the future, brings up a question about the
replicants humanity and their rights. As the replicants are able to think as a human would and seem to
feel emotions like a human, their rights are hard to acknowledge. Created to fulfill the will of
mankind, they only know a life without choices and opinions. This causes them to have certain desires
that seem very humanistic in nature. All though they possess humanoid characteristics, replicants have
a shorter life span than humans. This drives the plot of the film as some replicants hunt down their
creators to try and make themselves more human while others do not even realize they are replicants.
Pris and Roy are a couple that works together seeking their creators so that they do not have to die in
the measly sum of four bleak years. Rachael is a female replicant who does not know that she is a
replicant until Decker, a man in charge of hunting down and killing the replicants, tells her that she is
not human. Replicants should be allowed minimal human rights due to their ability to think, feel, and
reason as a human would.
With emotions acute to humanity, replicants grieve and feel compassion. Throughout the movie, the
replicants clearly show their feelings. The strongest among the emotions portrayed by the replicants
are fear, grief, and compassion. Fear is shown while they

Space Race And The Space Race
When the United States of America was founded, no one knew how the American experiment would
develop. Over the centuries, the United States would face many trying challenges, continually dipping
into the patriotic ideals the country was founded on. Motivation to remain aligned with its ideological
foundation of life, liberty, and happiness became the American way, turning into an attempt at stability
in a shifting world. Majority of the time, the nation lacked unity, such as the Antebellum period
preceding the sectional Civil War. One result of such dividing conflicts facing America was its
increasing ability to adapt. America needed to learn how to fight in World War I, and how to stand up
against unprecedented powers in World War II. It needed to remain unified as the world around it
crumbled, usually taking the form of its rooted patriotism, rather than genuine interpersonal
community. As the military department was called on for aid during the wars, warfare technology was
greatly advanced. With such expansion, came conflict. The Soviet Union and The United States were
newly recognized as the world s super powers with the fall of Nazi Germany, the pair being equally
defensive and opinionated bodies standing for opposing ideals. They fought to prove them self the
superior nation, unable to satisfy the indignant competition, which was feeding into all fields of
governing. Most famously, the two bodies tumbled along the Space Race, a movement to one up each
other in the

Matrix the Movie and The Lathe of Heaven Essay
Matrix the Movie and The Lathe of Heaven
The world is not always what you think it is. Things change or can appear to be
different than what you originally thought them to be. So are the worlds in the Matrix and
the novel The Lathe of Heaven. What you thought you knew about your life just went out
the window. There are several similarities between the novel and the movie, and there are
many trends in the movies and novels societies that are portrayed in our society as well.
Also, each proves LeGuins theory on science fiction.

The Lathe of Heaven has no future; the present is the basis of the plot. For
example, every time Orr has a session with Haber, Orr changes the present and
retroactively changes the past. Playing by LeGuins rules for science fiction helps shape
both stories and help put both into a league of their own.
The Matrix and Lathe of Heaven provide example of trends in modern society
throughout their plot. First, both the movie and the novel both portray characters that
have a God Complex. Meaning that they believe they have all the power and it is up to
them to create a world that they see fit. In the Matrix it is the Creator and in the Lathe
of Heaven it is Dr. Haber. In our society we have had and do have dictators that feel like
they are in complete control of how the world should be. There was Hitler, who decided
we need to exterminate over 6 million Jews and millions of others. A modern day
example would be George W. Bush. He acts with consent of the established government
and does what he thinks what is in our best interest, without listening to our own ideas
what we feel what our best interests are. This is dangerous to society just like in the
Lathe of Heaven Haber tries to control society with what he thinks is best, bringing
death and destruction by means of a deadly plague and virus. Bush has ordered the
bombing of dozens of

Standard Oil Executive Summary
John D. Rockefeller a masterful and innovative business man in the oil industry created a near
monopoly out of Standard Oil (established in 1882) one of the largest companies that led to the
development of antitrust laws in the United States. Fours after the discovery of oil in Pennsylvania,
Rockefeller joined the oil business in 1863 (Pratt, 2012). The early beginnings of the oil industry were
filled with pricing inconsistency and no government regulation (Pratt, 2012). However, Rockefeller
was relentless and efficient in his approach to develop Standard Oil Trust into an industry leader.
While other oil companies utilized investors, Rockefeller s financial discipline ushered the operation s
use of capital through the use of an early form of cost accounting to reduce cost (Pratt, 2012). The
strict cost controls allowed the company to pursue vertical integration and produce competitive
advantages towards long term goals of expansion. The competitive advantages included acquiring the
largest and best refineries, centralized administration, built or bought pipeline transportation into and
out of plants, acquired large markets for refined products, and used innovative technology to develop
crude oil to make commercial products (Pratt, 2012). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Vacation Vs My Dream Vacation
My Typical Vacation vs. My Dream Vacation
I take a vacation every year, and every year it s the same thing a week of camping at a campground
one hour from our home. But I dream of a vacation in which I take a cruise to some exotic location or
stay at an all inclusive resort on an island where I can be pampered and thrilled at the same time. Both
of these vacations are good, and both certainly offer me time away from work in which I can have a
respite from impending deadlines, a demanding boss, and grumbling clients. In addition, both can
even offer me the outdoor time soaking up the natural world my spirit seems to need. And to be clear,
family memories, which are so important to me, can be made on both vacations. Yet, the differences
between my dream vacation and my typical camping vacation are distinct, which is why I still yearn
for that dream vacation that I have yet to take.
To begin with, both vacations are different in purpose. We go camping because it is inexpensive;
raising children costs money, and camping is an inexpensive yet fun way for us to make family
memories yet still afford things for the children like nice clothes, extracurricular activities like football
and piano lessons, and fun activities like going bowling with friends. The cost of a camping vacation
is minimal, particularly if we use the same supplies year after year. We sleep on the ground in a tent
we have used for ten years. We cook our own food over a campfire, and our daily

grateful to him for that. If he hadn t had forced me, I don t know where we would be today. Everyday
we have gotten closer and closer and I feel like we should take the next step of our lives. So Cassidy
will you take this chance and spend the rest of our lives together? Ace waited for a response. He hoped
Cassidy like the ring he got her. Cassidy just stared at Ace for the longest time. Ace, I m so sorry.
Cassidy was in tears. Why are you apologizing? Ace had never been so confused. Why are you

Nero The Great Empire
The name Nero is one of the most recognizable throughout history, widely regarded as the Great
Leader of the Roman Empire. His reforms impacted on the social, political and religious mechanisms
used in the Roman Empire for centuries to come. Nero consolidated his position within Rome through
many decisions which favored the people, enabling him to establish and maintain himself in the
position as Emperor. Nero has been known as the emperor who ultimately ended the Julio Claudian

Until the year 59 A.D., Nero was described as a generous and reasonable leader. He eliminated capital
punishment, lowered taxes and allowed slaves to bring complaints against their masters (Tacitus, 109

cities in crisis. Although he was known for his nighttime frolicking, his actions were good natured,
albeit irresponsible and self indulgent. Although Nero was a supportive man and contributed many
assets to his empire, after his mother s death, Nero fell into a hedonic lifestyle that was full of tyranny.
He spent exorbitant amounts of money on artistic pursuits and began public performances as a poet

With the Revolution, came changes to the battlefield. Strategies changed and even the uniforms did
too, starting with the battle techniques, guerilla warfare was a big player in this war, a technique also
used by Spain in the late French Revolution against Napoleon. Guerilla warfare is also known as hit
and run. (Ellis) By using this technique, it kept the British very busy by taking out small forts to keep
the enemy from causing a large scale defeat. Another change from the battlefield was that there was
less face to face fighting and more stealth action. Previously, battles were fought, as you would
imagine it would be in lines marching steadily toward each other. This form of fighting still happened,
but no two battles are the exact same. Another change that dramatically affected the playing field was
the uniforms. During the American Revolution what you will hear a lot is, The red coats are what
brought the down fall of the British forces. But its not as much the red coats but the camouflage of the
Revolutionaries. The Americans introduced earth tones and darker colors to hide themselves in the
forests. Washington trained and equipped the soldiers and kept their moral together which played a
strong role in the war efforts. His perseverance created a level head state of mind that pushed the
troops through the war.

Original Work Of Dc Comics Copyright
Because the Batmobile is the original work of DC Comics, the district court told Towle he was wrong
by saying that DC Comics does maintain a copyright for the Batmobile as it appears in both the 1966
television series and the 1989 film based on their rights to merchandising and because the appearance
and idea originated in the comic books (caselaw.findlaw.com, para. 13). The district court than put this
Batman fight to an end by stating that Towle did infringe on DC Comics copyright because of how he
replicated the Batmobile as it appeared in both productions (caselaw.findlaw.com, para. 13). Clearly
this is an open and shut case because the district court granted the summary judgment to DC Comics
for both the copyright and the trademark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was agreed that all claims would be dismiss and on February 22, 2013 the court entered an
agreement that is consistent with stipulation, which would later result in Towle appealing
(caselaw.findlaw.com, para. 16).
For DC to be able to win their case, they must be able to prove that they own a copyright for the
Batmobile as it appeared in the 1966 television show and the 1989 movie. They must also prove that
Towle s replicas infringed on their copyright and that the creation of them was unauthorized
(caselaw.findlaw.com, para. 18). In the appeal court, it is concluded that the Batmobile character is the
property of DC and is copyrightable; therefore Towle did infringe upon DC Comics s rights when he
produced unauthorized works of the Batmobile. The ruling of the district court is then affirmed
(caselaw.find.com, para. 49). The court first answered Towle s original argument that the Batmobile is
not copyrightable as it appears in not only the television series and the motion picture by using the
case New Line v. Bertlesman Music Group. In this case, it is argued that Zomba, a musican, has
infringed New Line s copyright on the A Nightmare on Elm Street in the music video A Nightmare on
My Street. Bertlesman Music Group represents Zomba in this case (law.justia.com, para 1). This case
acts as a precedent for DC Comics v Towle, because the music video was not related to the film series

A position statement from the American Nurses Association (ANA) under Ethics and Human rights

the sick we care for everything except traumas, strokes, and open hearts. Most of our patients have
multiple comorbidities, terminal illnesses, and are noncompliant. In my short tenure I have had many
DNR conversations with patients and family members. I cannot stress enough the importance of
communication with both the patient and family members during this critical time. We as nurses have

Increasing Population In Orange County
A census is an official count or survey of a population, typically recording various details of
individuals. The census is taken every couple years in order to get specific details about our
population. It helps to take into account the amount of people a certain town, city, or state may have as
well as their race, gender, and age percentage. The census is also used to calculate the amount of
people who live below the poverty line, as well as the wealthy. The data collected by the census not
only determines the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives, but also is
used to distribute billions in federal funds to local communities. These funds go towards schools,
hospitals, public works projects, and other essentials needs that help Americans with everyday life. It

What Is The Dehydration Of An Alcohol
Introduction An alcohol is composed of a hydroxyl group attached to a saturated carbon atom.
Alcohols on a molecular level can be transformed into alkenes. For this reaction to occur, the alcohol
must be dehydrated. Alcohols are capable of being transformed under two known reaction
mechanisms, E1 and E2. These mechanisms allow for the dehydration of water and the formation of a
double bond which is created into a synthesized alkene. The dehydration of an alcohol can occur in
one of two ways. The first way is through being acid catalyzed. This reaction occurs when the acid is
presented, and interaction is presented between both the acid and the potential leaving group. As
known the hydroxy group is unstable, and not a good leaving group, therefore is needed to be
protonated for the detachment of the hydroxy group to take place. In base promoted dehydration, the
second method of transforming an alcohol to an alkene, is based on the same concept. The leaving
group must be turned stable to be able to become a good leaving group. The difference between the
two possible reactions is that base promoted is not reversible. It is not able to be reacted with the
alkene in the opposite process. In addition, base promoted and E2 elimination reactions are favorable
only when the acidic medium is not able to proficiently complete the reaction. In times when the acid
is not able to proceed the reaction, there are certain factors that are used that are able to yield desirable
products. Issues seen when a molecule is reacted with a strong acid unexpected rearrangement of
carbocations can arise. Moreover, double bond migrations can appear sometimes in the presence of
strong acids; however, because this is able to occur during hydrogenation, a base can reduce the
occurrence of the migration. There are also changes in the stereochemistry that can possibly occur, as
well as side reaction materials such as ethers. When these issues are faced, base promoted elimination
is a better way for the reaction to be continued. As previously mentioned, acid catalyzed as well as
base promoted must be able to create the hydroxy group into a good leaving group by protonation.
According to base promoted reactions, the base that is consumed is

The Anti- Corruption Of Bangladesh
Since the independence, Bangladesh has achieved commendable progresses in terms of socio
economic and governance. Corruption is still a major obstacle towards development and good
governance. There have been several institutions in the country established to fight corruption in the
country. The Bureau of Anti Corruption (BAC) was established in 1957, during which Bangladesh was
East Pakistan. This bureau was the first institution established to fight corruption. Corruption was
identified as a crime under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 as well as Prevention of Corruption
Act 1947 and the Anti Corruption Act 1958. Unfortunately none of the above was effective to address
the issue of corruption in the country. During 1990 s and 2000s ... Show more content on

Identity In Jean-Luc Nancy s Examined Life
Identity is an extremely tricky thing. Over the years, people have failed to define it properly. It is both
elusive and complicated. In Jean Luc Nancy s Identity, he struggles to explain that mysterious puzzle
that is an entity s identity.
Right at the start of Nancy s Identity, Nancy stresses that the state has no power over a nation s
identity. He declares, the state is only ever the instrument of the nation: It is not its role to define, and
even less to constitute, the identity of the nation (Nancy 1). Right away, this shows that identity is a
sort of hard to truly pin down. It is somewhat ethereal in nature. More importantly though, he stresses
that the national identity and the individual identity are not that different from ... Show more content

Moving Away at a Young Age
Moving far away from family and friends can be tough on a child at a young age. It has its pros and

with adjusting to new ways of life. Everything seems so different and at a young age one feels like

Fife is no longer known for their agriculture. All the lush farmland is mostly gone and replaced with
industrial facilities, warehouses, care dealerships, motels and the Indian Casino. These changes have
brought tremendous economic growth to the city, however, these changes have negatively impacted
social climate and the employability of their senior and migrant residents. Despite these criticisms,
while I walked through the City of Fife I conversed with several residents and asked each person I

Socrates Ignorance
Everyone obtains their knowledge in different ways and each person has their beliefs of what is right.
Socrates was a wise philosopher from Athens who was known for delineating arguments in which a
dedicated student of his named Plato wrote down. Pre Socratic concepts explored the nature of things
through inquiry exposing that much of what we know are just simply dogmas with no definite answer.
Through Socrates use of the Socratic Method and Socratic Irony he pretends to be ignorant to reveal
the ignorance in others using a series of questions resulting in them learning they know nothing;
therefore, Socrates inspires us to do the same, regardless of the fact that there is always something we
don t know. Socrates wisdom mainly comes from him knowing what he does not know. This relates to
Socratic Irony because he uses his ignorance to reveal the ignorance in others. He will accept the
person s claim regardless of him knowing it will be unsatisfactory. Socrates demonstrates this in the
dialogue Euthyphro when he says to Euthyphro, I cannot do better than assent to your superior
wisdom. What else can I say, confessing as I do, that I know nothing about them? (Euthyphro 127).
Here Socrates is giving Euthyphro the confidence that he is an expert in what he knows and admitting
that he knows nothing. Socrates being ignorant all comes to play into the use of the Socratic Method.
In order for someone to come to the realization that they are ignorant, Socrates uses his

the European Union s states, specifically coastal Greece and Italy, by migrating rapidly and in large
quantities. The number of refugees who arrive and currently reside in Greece and Italy increases at a
dangerous rate daily, and thus, the security of our fellow citizens is threatened by the occurring

European Union is worsening their situation in regards to safety. (Van Orden 2015) The policy that

procession of migrants is in controlled and implemented by the European Parliament. (Van Orden

Social And Legal Implications Of Driverless Cars
By definition, an autonomous vehicle, or driverless car, is one that is able to navigate terrain without
the need for human input but human input is also an option. It is undeniably possible that we will see
driverless cars on roads around the world at some point in the not so distant future. It has been stated
that the next generation of vehicles, such as BMW s self driving prototype, could be available within
the next decade and that within that decade Ford, GM, Toyota, Nissan, Volvo, and Audi all plan to
develop and sell some form of advanced automation (Knight, 2013). However, before they are rolled

Driverless cars would be able to take safety features such as these to a more advanced level that would
automatically make manoeuvres such as changing lanes suddenly or automatically slowing down at
higher speeds. For example, when driving through heavy fog, the driver would find it difficult to see
an oncoming traffic jam whereas an autonomous vehicle s (AV) sensors would be alerted and would
automatically slow the car down and alert the driver as to what was ahead. This system would also be
useful if a driver was travelling on unfamiliar roads: the AV would be programmed as to the optimum
speed to travel at certain times, eradicating the risk of an accident due to human error. A study by
Benenson et al highlights that vehicle to vehicle communication may be an effective way of increasing
safety with AV s: cars would communicate with each other their plans of direction and position to
ensure no collisions occurred. This reduce in road traffic accidents would also largely reduce other
societal costs. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that in the US in 2012, crash
injuries totalled costs of $18 billion and $33bn in work lost (CDC, 2014). In the UK, the Department
for Transport suggests that, allowing for accidents that have not been reported to police, the total value
of the prevention of road accidents was £34.3 billion in 2012 (DFT, 2012). This shows that road

that there is no such thing as a magic word and tells him that he has been doing everything all on his

Characters: Gawaine le Coeur Hardy: He seems pretty cowardice from the beginning of the book and
still cowardice close to the end. He had no spirit as a knight early in the book and I don t know why he
even tried to become one. At the end he achieves a record of fifty dragons, but is devoured. The only
thing they could find of him were the metallic parts of his medals. They couldn t even find the

The Headmaster: The only reason that Gawaine ever got that far was because of the headmaster. The
headmaster gave him spirit, but after the headmaster told him the truth, I think Gawaine lost his spirit
again. I think that is probably how Gawaine dies.
Conflicts: The first conflict was to get Gawaine to be more enthusiastic about being a knight. This was

An Understanding Of God And A New World Of Faith
Faith, a word that has a different meaning to every individual that walks this Earth, cannot be so easily
defined. Faith, when talking about it in the religious sense, makes it even that much harder to
understand. Everyone believes in something, and each of those beliefs have an enormous effect on
how they live their lives. Gerald O Collins, a Jesuit Priest, states that within the Christian faith, lies
two components: Fides Quae and Fides Qua. Fides Quae is the faith which is believed, or the content
of that faith. Fides Qua is the individuals own personal commitment to God. Throughout this paper I
will demonstrate faith using The Compendium, and A New World of Faith to show how a good
understanding of faith can reveal the truth from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This statement simplified would essentially mean that in order to have faith you must be able to trust
in God, even though we
2
cannot physically be in his presence on Earth. To elaborate, a faithful follower of christ must first have
knowledge of the religion, agree to the terms, and then trust in that faith. Faith requires an individual
to not only trust in God himself, but to also firmly believe the scriptures and teachings from within the
Bible as well. Both this knowledge and trust is very crucial to the understanding and involvement with
the Catholic faith. So many people simply agree with the teachings of the Bible, but do not fully trust
in its meaning. For example, every Catholic understands that Jesus was nailed to the cross and died for
our salvation, but they don t believe that in the harder times in life, that Jesus will come through on
this promise for us. Being humble and opening oneself up to this idea of a loving faith relationship
with God is what truly defines the term above all else. A good example of this concept from scripture
would be from (John 3:16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. This type of knowledge trust
relationship we have with God is a type of rational faith, or fides et ratio. We must have strongly
backed reasoning for what we

King Lear Character Analysis
In Act III scene 7 of Shakespeare s King Lear, Gloucester returns to his castle after secretly guiding
Lear to safety. Gloucester hoped to avoid any confrontation by Cornwall and Regan, but his son
Edmund, betrayed him and revealed the information. When Gloucester finds Regan and Cornwall,
they accuse him of being a traitor. They are both enraged that he has disobeyed their orders by helping
Lear who was just kicked out during a terrible storm. After some interrogation by Regan, Gloucester
justifies his actions and explains he sided with Lear because he disapproves of Regan and Goneril s
cruelty towards Lear.
Because I would not see thy cruel nails

Gloucester, now aware of Regan s evil nature, wants to protect Lear from her. He is certain that Regan
would not hesitate to pluck out Lear s eyes given the chance. Gloucester implies it would be more
severe for Lear s eyes to be plucked out than his own beard. Eyes are much more vital and it would
also be significantly more painful to have them gouged out than to have one s beard plucked out. Most
importantly, Gloucester specifically describes Lear s eyes as poor old eyes. Illustrating Lear s eyes as
poor old eyes signifies how Gloucester sympathizes with him. It is clear he is very saddened to see his
friend treated so horribly. Gloucester also acknowledges Lear is getting older and with old age, one s
health such as eyesight can worsen or become poor. However, Gloucester understands Lear s age is all
the more reason why he should be respected, unlike Regan and Goneril.
After Gloucester finishes criticizing Regan, it is clear that his hostility towards Regan also applies to
her sister, Goneril. Gloucester s comments on Goneril are even harsher than Regan s. For example, in
the speech, Gloucester doesn t even refer to her as Goneril, but instead as thy fierce sister. Gloucester
thinks so poorly of Goneril that he does not believe she deserves enough respect to be addressed by
her own name. When Gloucester calls Goneril fierce, it describes her cruel nature. He views her as a
savage human because only a person so vicious would abuse

Alexander The Great Argumentative Essay
Father: Persians have no place in the Macedonian army! Those who we once fought against are now
fighting alongside us. It is quite simply an insult to be succeeded as Alexander puts it, by young
Persians carrying Macedonian weapons, believing they are one of us.
Son: I believe the reasons he bought the successors to Susa far justify the hostility many veterans,
including you, father, may feel about the event. Alexander had the intention of repatriating those
veterans who were too wounded or old to continue through the difficult conditions they faced. With no
Macedonian troops available to replace them immediately and the strain of having to constantly send
back to Macedonia for reinforcements, Alexander had no choice but to turn to the Persians who were
trained in Macedonian infantry tactics. This army of course, owed more personal loyalty to Alexander
rather than the tiring Macedonians who served him for regional interests17.
Father: A question of loyalty to Alexander? We may have mutinied at Opis ... Show more content on

We do not know what the future will hold. I believe Alexander knows exactly what he is doing and I
trust he will make the best decisions for the whole of the Empire. In using his divine connections as
propaganda he is able to implement his policies of fusion such as proskynesis and the introduction of
successors he is able to lead us into the future.
Father: Although I believe Alexander has true belief in his own divinity, I can accept that he exploits it
to use as propaganda to gain loyalty within the Persian Empire. Propaganda is necessary, although
many Macedonians do not see the correlation to Alexander s divinity. Without this dramatized status
there is no blind following from the Persians. Alexander proved himself

Examples Of Sibling Rivalry In East Of Eden By John Steinbeck
East of Eden, a novel written by John Steinbeck, is set in Salinas, California, a place Steinbeck calls
home. Steinbeck believes East of Eden to be his most sacred piece of work. Throughout the novel,
Steinbeck explores the universal themes that all humans experience, such as: lust, family, sin, and free
will. The novel foreshadows the roles that the characters play as they reenact the biblical story of Cain
and Abel. Several characters through the course of Steinbeck s novel, East of Eden, demonstrates a
lack of self ability and corruption of the soul. In East of Eden, John Steinbeck portrays stories and
concepts of the Bible through good versus evil, sibling rivalry, and the importance of truth through the
external and internal conflicts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel, the characters withhold the truth from themselves and everyone else. Neither knows that
Kate is alive until Aron falls in love with Abra Hamilton, Sam s daughter. Abra eventually reveals this
information to Aron, who now realizes that his father has not been forthright with him. (Shuman).
Once they start telling the truth, they feel as if their lives start to align. Adam and Charles father,
Cyrus, lies about his Civil War reputation to earn an important job and a massive fortune. Charles
withholds the truth about Cathy s seduction towards him on her and Adam s wedding night. Lee lies to
himself about wanting to leave the Trask family and open a bookstore. Cal keeps his work with Will
Hamilton a secret from his father. Adam and Lee keep the truth about Cathy from Cal and Aron.
Likewise, Cal fails to inform his father and Lee that he knows that his mother is alive and a well
known brothel owner. Adam lies to himself about Cathy and excuses her psychotic behavior.
However, the truth sets Adam and Cal free. Adam finally faces the truth about Cathy. Once he tells her
the truth, he relaxes and feels free. Also, Cal faces up to the fact that telling Aron the truth might have
resulted in his death. Cal takes responsibility for his actions, and realizes that he has the ability to
make good choices in the future. Lee leaves and goes to open up his bookstore, but realizes the truth.

Positive Discipline Enhances Lives Essay
The topic of positive discipline is one of great importance especially so in the world of athletics. Often
time the term discipline is misconstrued by parents, player and unfortunately some coaches. Parents
may associate the term as their player being subject to harsh treatment; while athletes my see it as
restrictive and punishing, sadly to say some coaches validate both the parents and the athletes view of
discipline. Many older or seasoned coaches hold to the concept that discipline simply apply to the
performance of all play properly, the athlete focusing solely on the sport they are participating and
striving to win every game. Failure to live up to the coaches expectations could result in extreme
practices or the like and be falsely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truth is positive discipline goes well beyond simply providing instructions and enforcing
punishment when those instructions are not followed to the letter. Instructing athletes on the ins and
outs of their chosen sport is pointless if a coach does not train them how to implement or use the
instructed task. Great coaches never assume previous coaches that their athletes may have played for,
properly trained and instructed them as they should have. One thing my wife always told me when it
came to our boys was You can t expect them to know it if you have never taught and shown them how
to do it. Coaches teach, emulate and instill; self respect, self discipline, courtesy, giving community
involvement, pride, dignity and respect of others. In recent years as the media blows up certain sport
the occurrence of athlete misconduct in those sports appears to have grown rapidly. Misconduct places
a negative stigmatism on the entire organization, not just the player. More often than not negative
behavior on the field of play can be traced back to behavior displayed in practice and other games.
Athletes can sense when they are just a body on the field or when they are the go to person. Both of
the fore mentioned situations, could very well leave a player feeling pitiful or privileged. Coaches are
responsible for teaching athletes how to function as a team and not as individuals; this cannot be
accomplished if the coach shows favoritism or lead them to believe they are less

Ebay Inc. ( Ebay )
EBay Inc. (EBAY) is a leading global commerce platform that enables individuals and businesses to
buy and sell products online. Over the past 20 years, it has become one of the largest online
marketplaces, with over 159 million active users around the world and more than 800 million items
for sale. EBay s vision is one that is enabled by people, powered by technology, and open to everyone
(What We Do). EBay runs a more decentralized commerce system than Amazon and other e
commerce companies. Their purpose is to act as a facilitator of peer to peer commerce rather than
maintain their own inventory and sell directly to consumers. This gives more power to eBay
marketplace sellers and allows for both auctions and fixed price sales. (EBay vs Amazon) With new
startups on the rise such as Etsy, SellSimple, and Threadflip, along with e commerce veterans such as
Amazon or Alibaba, eBay has to continuously work to improve its services to maintain its sellers and
continue to attract a larger consumer base. (Thomas) Using information technology and improved
information systems has helped eBay achieve their goals and differentiate the platform in an
increasingly competitive market.
In September 1995, eBay founder Pierre Omidyar launched AuctionWeb, an open marketplace for
buyers and sellers. Working alone for almost a year, Omidyar hired his first employee in June 1996,
and by July, AuctionWeb had already sold $7.2 million worth of merchandise. In September 1998,
eBay went public.

  • 2. Reflection On Group Work This paper will reflect upon the experience of working in a group to produce a poster in partnership with Lloyd and Kemi. The difficulties and challenges faced will be outlined along with the advantages and disadvantages of group work. I will seek to be honest about how I felt and will reflect on the final outcome of our project. Difficulties and Challenges By nature, I am an introvert and deeply reflective. This at times can be an advantage, allowing me to look at the diamond nature of truth from different angles. For Group work, however, this is a noticeable hindrance. Working in a group is the last thing I expected for the first assignment, but I was prepared to take on this challenge and set aside my negative preconceptions. We began strong, meeting in the Library and immediately delegating tasks. I arranged to travel to Aylesbury in order to make progress on the project with Lloyd and discovered he lived five minutes away from my mum! Kemi was unable to join us on this occasion, but we updated her via Face Time. The project seemed to be gaining traction: we had done research, we had a rough idea of the content and we were all encouraged by the progress. The first difficulty, however, came in week 2. I had begun Greek on Mondays and was immediately thrust into a world previously unknown. It was a thrilling challenge that opened up scores of exegetical insights, but the weekly translation exercises began to eat away at my time. One of my great weaknesses is the inability ... Stem cells are unique cells that are unspecialized and have the ability to proliferate and develop into many different cell types by forming more daughter cells, which become new stem cells or differentiate to become specialized cells. They have the potential to treat diseases, such as Parkinson s, diabetes and cancer. They may be used to rejuvenate organs, reducing the need for organ transplants. The discovery of stem cells is a rapid progressing field in medicine and research. Stem cells come from several origins in the body and are capable of surviving over long periods. For induced pluripotent stem cells, viruses are currently used to introduce embryonic genes and have been shown to cause cancers in mouse studies, which may be harmful for human. Embryonic stem cells might trigger an immune response, whereby, the recipient s body attacks the stem cells as foreign invaders, or fail to function typically. It is imperative for researches to clarify and tackle ethical issues to ensure that the uses of stem cells are accepted by the community. It is important that scientists pursue stem cell research while treasuring lives. Stem cell therapy advocates the reparative response of diseased, dysfunctional or injured tissue using stem cells. Regenerative medicine holds the promise of ways to repair cardiovascular damage and improved cancer treatment. Stem cells are used to treat leukemia, some joint repairs and repair the liver. The adult stem cells used to treat autism comes from the human umbilical cord tissue. The role of stem cell therapies has brought the success level of scientists higher as they are soon to discover treatments for more diseases. Research on stem cells continues to advance knowledge about how healthy cells reinstate damaged cells in adult organisms. The potential for future medical use is promising because stem cell research is a highly engrossing area of contemporary biology that is leading to a changing landscape in healthcare. Helen or Ms. Helen as her 4k students know her as, is always there with an open ear and wonderful advice. She works with each child in their own way, preparing them for preschool. She really believes that there is a light in every child that should be seen by the world. With the encouragement of a teacher like her, children will be able to spread their wings to become who they are truly meant to be. It was only a few years ago when Helen decided to change her lifestyle by working with children. Having four children of her own, she understood how important having a good role model for children was. She sets high expectations for her family, students and for herself by being confident of who she is and what she represents. She understands that good role models are open and honest about admitting fault if they make a mistake. She is a strong enough person now to understand and see the mistakes she has made in her past. She keeps in mind everyday, why God brought her into this world and to find the message she needs to share. Helen grew up in River Falls WI with a family of eight, her being the second youngest where quietness was not a word. • 8. Futuristic Rights In Blade Runner Futuristic Rights Manmade beings were created as slaves for humanity. These beings are called replicants. Blade Runner, a science fiction film set in the future, brings up a question about the replicants humanity and their rights. As the replicants are able to think as a human would and seem to feel emotions like a human, their rights are hard to acknowledge. Created to fulfill the will of mankind, they only know a life without choices and opinions. This causes them to have certain desires that seem very humanistic in nature. All though they possess humanoid characteristics, replicants have a shorter life span than humans. This drives the plot of the film as some replicants hunt down their creators to try and make themselves more human while others do not even realize they are replicants. Pris and Roy are a couple that works together seeking their creators so that they do not have to die in the measly sum of four bleak years. Rachael is a female replicant who does not know that she is a replicant until Decker, a man in charge of hunting down and killing the replicants, tells her that she is not human. Replicants should be allowed minimal human rights due to their ability to think, feel, and reason as a human would. With emotions acute to humanity, replicants grieve and feel compassion. Throughout the movie, the replicants clearly show their feelings. The strongest among the emotions portrayed by the replicants are fear, grief, and compassion. Fear is shown while they ... • 9. Space Race And The Space Race When the United States of America was founded, no one knew how the American experiment would develop. Over the centuries, the United States would face many trying challenges, continually dipping into the patriotic ideals the country was founded on. Motivation to remain aligned with its ideological foundation of life, liberty, and happiness became the American way, turning into an attempt at stability in a shifting world. Majority of the time, the nation lacked unity, such as the Antebellum period preceding the sectional Civil War. One result of such dividing conflicts facing America was its increasing ability to adapt. America needed to learn how to fight in World War I, and how to stand up against unprecedented powers in World War II. It needed to remain unified as the world around it crumbled, usually taking the form of its rooted patriotism, rather than genuine interpersonal community. As the military department was called on for aid during the wars, warfare technology was greatly advanced. With such expansion, came conflict. The Soviet Union and The United States were newly recognized as the world s super powers with the fall of Nazi Germany, the pair being equally defensive and opinionated bodies standing for opposing ideals. • 13. Vacation Vs My Dream Vacation My Typical Vacation vs. My Dream Vacation I take a vacation every year, and every year it s the same thing a week of camping at a campground one hour from our home. But I dream of a vacation in which I take a cruise to some exotic location or stay at an all inclusive resort on an island where I can be pampered and thrilled at the same time. Both of these vacations are good, and both certainly offer me time away from work in which I can have a respite from impending deadlines, a demanding boss, and grumbling clients. In addition, both can even offer me the outdoor time soaking up the natural world my spirit seems to need. And to be clear, family memories, which are so important to me, can be made on both vacations. Yet, the differences between my dream vacation and my typical camping vacation are distinct, which is why I still yearn for that dream vacation that I have yet to take. To begin with, both vacations are different in purpose. We go camping because it is inexpensive; raising children costs money, and camping is an inexpensive yet fun way for us to make family memories yet still afford things for the children like nice clothes, extracurricular activities like football and piano lessons, and fun activities like going bowling with friends. For DC to be able to win their case, they must be able to prove that they own a copyright for the Batmobile as it appeared in the 1966 television show and the 1989 movie. They must also prove that Towle s replicas infringed on their copyright and that the creation of them was unauthorized (caselaw.findlaw.com, para. 18). In the appeal court, it is concluded that the Batmobile character is the property of DC and is copyrightable; therefore Towle did infringe upon DC Comics s rights when he produced unauthorized works of the Batmobile. The court first answered Towle s original argument that the Batmobile is not copyrightable as it appears in not only the television series and the motion picture by using the case New Line v. • 21. What Is The Dehydration Of An Alcohol Introduction An alcohol is composed of a hydroxyl group attached to a saturated carbon atom. Alcohols on a molecular level can be transformed into alkenes. For this reaction to occur, the alcohol must be dehydrated. Alcohols are capable of being transformed under two known reaction mechanisms, E1 and E2. These mechanisms allow for the dehydration of water and the formation of a double bond which is created into a synthesized alkene. The dehydration of an alcohol can occur in one of two ways. The first way is through being acid catalyzed. This reaction occurs when the acid is presented, and interaction is presented between both the acid and the potential leaving group. As known the hydroxy group is unstable, and not a good leaving group, therefore is needed to be protonated for the detachment of the hydroxy group to take place. In base promoted dehydration, the second method of transforming an alcohol to an alkene, is based on the same concept. The leaving group must be turned stable to be able to become a good leaving group. The difference between the two possible reactions is that base promoted is not reversible. It is not able to be reacted with the alkene in the opposite process. In addition, base promoted and E2 elimination reactions are favorable only when the acidic medium is not able to proficiently complete the reaction. In times when the acid is not able to proceed the reaction, there are certain factors that are used that are able to yield desirable products. Issues seen when a molecule is reacted with a strong acid unexpected rearrangement of carbocations can arise. Moreover, double bond migrations can appear sometimes in the presence of strong acids; however, because this is able to occur during hydrogenation, a base can reduce the occurrence of the migration. There are also changes in the stereochemistry that can possibly occur, as well as side reaction materials such as ethers. When these issues are faced, base promoted elimination is a better way for the reaction to be continued. As previously mentioned, acid catalyzed as well as base promoted must be able to create the hydroxy group into a good leaving group by protonation. According to base promoted reactions, the base that is consumed is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Jean Luc Nancy s Identity, he struggles to explain that mysterious puzzle that is an entity s identity. Right at the start of Nancy s Identity, Nancy stresses that the state has no power over a nation s identity. He declares, the state is only ever the instrument of the nation: It is not its role to define, and even less to constitute, the identity of the nation (Nancy 1). • 29. Socrates Ignorance Everyone obtains their knowledge in different ways and each person has their beliefs of what is right. Socrates was a wise philosopher from Athens who was known for delineating arguments in which a dedicated student of his named Plato wrote down. Pre Socratic concepts explored the nature of things through inquiry exposing that much of what we know are just simply dogmas with no definite answer. Through Socrates use of the Socratic Method and Socratic Irony he pretends to be ignorant to reveal the ignorance in others using a series of questions resulting in them learning they know nothing; therefore, Socrates inspires us to do the same, regardless of the fact that there is always something we don t know. Socrates wisdom mainly comes from him knowing what he does not know. This relates to Socratic Irony because he uses his ignorance to reveal the ignorance in others. He will accept the person s claim regardless of him knowing it will be unsatisfactory. Socrates demonstrates this in the dialogue Euthyphro when he says to Euthyphro, I cannot do better than assent to your superior wisdom. What else can I say, confessing as I do, that I know nothing about them? (Euthyphro 127). Here Socrates is giving Euthyphro the confidence that he is an expert in what he knows and admitting that he knows nothing. For example, when driving through heavy fog, the driver would find it difficult to see an oncoming traffic jam whereas an autonomous vehicle s (AV) sensors would be alerted and would automatically slow the car down and alert the driver as to what was ahead. This system would also be useful if a driver was travelling on unfamiliar roads: the AV would be programmed as to the optimum speed to travel at certain times, eradicating the risk of an accident due to human error. A study by Benenson et al highlights that vehicle to vehicle communication may be an effective way of increasing safety with AV s: cars would communicate with each other their plans of direction and position to ensure no collisions occurred. • 41. An Understanding Of God And A New World Of Faith Faith, a word that has a different meaning to every individual that walks this Earth, cannot be so easily defined. Faith, when talking about it in the religious sense, makes it even that much harder to understand. Everyone believes in something, and each of those beliefs have an enormous effect on how they live their lives. Gerald O Collins, a Jesuit Priest, states that within the Christian faith, lies two components: Fides Quae and Fides Qua. Fides Quae is the faith which is believed, or the content of that faith. Fides Qua is the individuals own personal commitment to God. Throughout this paper I will demonstrate faith using The Compendium, and A New World of Faith to show how a good understanding of faith can reveal the truth from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This statement simplified would essentially mean that in order to have faith you must be able to trust in God, even though we 2 cannot physically be in his presence on Earth. To elaborate, a faithful follower of christ must first have knowledge of the religion, agree to the terms, and then trust in that faith. Faith requires an individual to not only trust in God himself, but to also firmly believe the scriptures and teachings from within the Bible as well. Both this knowledge and trust is very crucial to the understanding and involvement with the Catholic faith. So many people simply agree with the teachings of the Bible, but do not fully trust in its meaning. For example, every Catholic understands that Jesus was nailed to the cross and died for our salvation, but they don t believe that in the harder times in life, that Jesus will come through on this promise for us. Being humble and opening oneself up to this idea of a loving faith relationship with God is what truly defines the term above all else. A good example of this concept from scripture would be from (John 3:16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. This type of knowledge trust relationship we have with God is a type of rational faith, or fides et ratio. We must have strongly backed reasoning for what we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. King Lear Character Analysis In Act III scene 7 of Shakespeare s King Lear, Gloucester returns to his castle after secretly guiding Lear to safety. Gloucester hoped to avoid any confrontation by Cornwall and Regan, but his son Edmund, betrayed him and revealed the information. When Gloucester finds Regan and Cornwall, they accuse him of being a traitor. They are both enraged that he has disobeyed their orders by helping Lear who was just kicked out during a terrible storm. After some interrogation by Regan, Gloucester justifies his actions and explains he sided with Lear because he disapproves of Regan and Goneril s cruelty towards Lear. Because I would not see thy cruel nails Pluck out his poor old eyes, nor thy fierce sister In his anointed flesh rash boarish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gloucester, now aware of Regan s evil nature, wants to protect Lear from her. He is certain that Regan would not hesitate to pluck out Lear s eyes given the chance. Gloucester implies it would be more severe for Lear s eyes to be plucked out than his own beard. Eyes are much more vital and it would also be significantly more painful to have them gouged out than to have one s beard plucked out. Most importantly, Gloucester specifically describes Lear s eyes as poor old eyes. Illustrating Lear s eyes as poor old eyes signifies how Gloucester sympathizes with him. It is clear he is very saddened to see his friend treated so horribly. Gloucester also acknowledges Lear is getting older and with old age, one s health such as eyesight can worsen or become poor. However, Gloucester understands Lear s age is all the more reason why he should be respected, unlike Regan and Goneril. After Gloucester finishes criticizing Regan, it is clear that his hostility towards Regan also applies to her sister, Goneril. Gloucester s comments on Goneril are even harsher than Regan s. For example, in the speech, Gloucester doesn t even refer to her as Goneril, but instead as thy fierce sister. Gloucester thinks so poorly of Goneril that he does not believe she deserves enough respect to be addressed by her own name. When Gloucester calls Goneril fierce, it describes her cruel nature. He views her as a savage human because only a person so vicious would abuse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Alexander The Great Argumentative Essay Father: Persians have no place in the Macedonian army! Those who we once fought against are now fighting alongside us. It is quite simply an insult to be succeeded as Alexander puts it, by young Persians carrying Macedonian weapons, believing they are one of us. Son: I believe the reasons he bought the successors to Susa far justify the hostility many veterans, including you, father, may feel about the event. Alexander had the intention of repatriating those veterans who were too wounded or old to continue through the difficult conditions they faced. With no Macedonian troops available to replace them immediately and the strain of having to constantly send back to Macedonia for reinforcements, Alexander had no choice but to turn to the Persians who were trained in Macedonian infantry tactics. This army of course, owed more personal loyalty to Alexander rather than the tiring Macedonians who served him for regional interests17. Father: A question of loyalty to Alexander? I believe Alexander knows exactly what he is doing and I trust he will make the best decisions for the whole of the Empire. In using his divine connections as propaganda he is able to implement his policies of fusion such as proskynesis and the introduction of successors he is able to lead us into the future. Father: Although I believe Alexander has true belief in his own divinity, I can accept that he exploits it to use as propaganda to gain loyalty within the Persian Empire. Propaganda is necessary, although many Macedonians do not see the correlation to Alexander s divinity. Without this dramatized status there is no blind following from the Persians. • 45. Positive Discipline Enhances Lives Essay The topic of positive discipline is one of great importance especially so in the world of athletics. Often time the term discipline is misconstrued by parents, player and unfortunately some coaches. Parents may associate the term as their player being subject to harsh treatment; while athletes my see it as restrictive and punishing, sadly to say some coaches validate both the parents and the athletes view of discipline. Many older or seasoned coaches hold to the concept that discipline simply apply to the performance of all play properly, the athlete focusing solely on the sport they are participating and striving to win every game. Failure to live up to the coaches expectations could result in extreme practices or the like and be falsely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The truth is positive discipline goes well beyond simply providing instructions and enforcing punishment when those instructions are not followed to the letter. Instructing athletes on the ins and outs of their chosen sport is pointless if a coach does not train them how to implement or use the instructed task. Great coaches never assume previous coaches that their athletes may have played for, properly trained and instructed them as they should have. One thing my wife always told me when it came to our boys was You can t expect them to know it if you have never taught and shown them how to do it. Coaches teach, emulate and instill; self respect, self discipline, courtesy, giving community involvement, pride, dignity and respect of others. In recent years as the media blows up certain sport the occurrence of athlete misconduct in those sports appears to have grown rapidly. Misconduct places a negative stigmatism on the entire organization, not just the player. More often than not negative behavior on the field of play can be traced back to behavior displayed in practice and other games. Athletes can sense when they are just a body on the field or when they are the go to person. Both of the fore mentioned situations, could very well leave a player feeling pitiful or privileged. Coaches are responsible for teaching athletes how to function as a team and not as individuals; this cannot be accomplished if the coach shows favoritism or lead them to believe they are less ... • 46. Ebay Inc. ( Ebay ) EBay Inc. (EBAY) is a leading global commerce platform that enables individuals and businesses to buy and sell products online. Over the past 20 years, it has become one of the largest online marketplaces, with over 159 million active users around the world and more than 800 million items for sale. EBay s vision is one that is enabled by people, powered by technology, and open to everyone (What We Do). EBay runs a more decentralized commerce system than Amazon and other e commerce companies. Their purpose is to act as a facilitator of peer to peer commerce rather than maintain their own inventory and sell directly to consumers. This gives more power to eBay marketplace sellers and allows for both auctions and fixed price sales. (EBay vs Amazon) With new startups on the rise such as Etsy, SellSimple, and Threadflip, along with e commerce veterans such as Amazon or Alibaba, eBay has to continuously work to improve its services to maintain its sellers and continue to attract a larger consumer base. (Thomas) Using information technology and improved information systems has helped eBay achieve their goals and differentiate the platform in an increasingly competitive market. In September 1995, eBay founder Pierre Omidyar launched AuctionWeb, an open marketplace for buyers and sellers. Working alone for almost a year, Omidyar hired his first employee in June 1996, and by July, AuctionWeb had already sold $7.2 million worth of merchandise. In September 1998, eBay went public. ...
