This document lists common Rake database tasks for managing a database schema and data. It describes tasks for loading and dumping the schema, setting up the database, migrating or resetting migrations, checking migration status, purging or preparing test data, and displaying the database charset. The tasks provide options for managing the schema lifecycle and content in a Rails database.

2. $ rake db:schema:load
Load a schema.rb file into the database

3. $ rake db:schema:dump
Create a schema from database

4. $ rake db:setup
rake db:schema:load
rake db:seed

5. $ rake db:reset
rake db:drop
rake db:setup

6. $ rake db:migrate:reset
rake db:drop
rake db:create
rake db:migrate

7. $ rake db:migrate:status
Show status of migrations

8. $ rake db:version
Display the current schema version number

9. $ rake db:forward
Pushes schema to the next version
(opposite of rollback)

10. $ rake db:purge
Delete all records in the database

11. $ rake db:test:prepare
Check for pending migrations
Load the test schema

12. $ rake db:charset
Display charset for database
