The Islamic legal system has three main characteristics: it is moderate and balances spiritual and physical aspects of human nature; it is rational and deals with tangible facts rather than superstitions; and it aims to be easy and avoid hardships. Before Islam, Arabian tribes followed their own customs. Muhammad introduced a new monotheistic religion with laws from the Quran, though it did not provide a detailed legal code. Over time, Islamic scholars developed Sharia law drawing from the Quran, Sunnah, consensus of jurists, and analogy.
