CONSTRUCTION
Whether you need a construction project carried out for
short-, medium- or long-term use, you can rely on RA
to do the job. We use skilled personnel from design all
the way through to construction, and apply international
building standards to ensure the durability and quality of
your camp and infrastructure.
CASE
Turnkey project
We built 110 high-occupancy brick/mortar barrack rooms in
this turnkey horizontal and vertical construction project. A
steeply sloping sea-facing site, challenging logistics, secu-
rity threats and lack of local materials and equipment were
among the many challenges we successfully overcame.
Local workers were drafted in as part of a capacity-building
programme, with excellent results
CASE
High-capacity camps
RA International was asked to build large camps and facilities
in 10 remote locations. The contract included all prefabricat-
ed structures for accommodation, administration, ablution
and medical requirements, as well as the necessary infra-
structure such as power generation and distribution, water
distribution, wastewater drainage and septic tanks. The
largest independent facility housed up to 1,000 personnel.
Our construction service offer includes:

OPERATION AND
MAINTENANCE
Whenever equipment and vehicles break down in remote
locations, it’s a headache. But you can rest assured: our
staff are skilled in dealing with breakdowns and have
plenty of experience to draw on. If anyone can fix it, they
can. RA employees are all trained in the operation and
maintenance of heavy vehicles, light delivery vehicles, con-
struction equipment, earth-moving equipment, material
handling equipment, power generation equipment/distri-
bution systems, water treatment plant/distribution systems
and waste management equipment. We also manage all
the spare parts and consumables needed for each project.
Tools, parts and equipment are all safely stored on site, and
stock levels are continuously monitored. We are constantly
improving our systems, policies and procedures to ensure
that we can keep your operations up and running.
CASE
Repairs and maintenance
RA International was tasked with providing routine mainte-
nance and unscheduled repair services for a large fleet of
mechanical and electrical plant and equipment across 35
remote locations. Equipment for power generation, water
treatment and distribution, air conditioning and waste man-
agement were all included.
CASE
Servicing a large fleet
RA International was asked to provide full operation and first-
line maintenance services for a large fleet of client-owned
heavy-duty plant and equipment. Stretching across multiple
sites, the fleet included heavy-duty trucks, cranes, forklifts,
bulldozers, graders and front-end loaders.
Our operation and maintenance service offer includes:

LIFE SUPPORT
Power, water, and waste management are naturally critical
to the smooth running of your site. But experience has
taught us that one aspect of camp life contributes dispro-
portionately to how people feel: the food.
That’s why RA offers restaurant-quality catering services
and makes it a priority to provide healthy, nutritious and
culturally appropriate meals every day. An abundant and
varied buffet gives your staff a midday break they can
look forward to and puts a smile on their faces. Everyone
benefits when you create a “home away from home” expe-
rience. Your employees are happier and more likely to stick
around. Better staff retention and continuity contribute, in
turn, to the success of your mission.
Our life support service offer includes:
– Camp management
– Food supply and catering
– Cleaning
– Laundry
– Pest and vector control
– Waste management
– Ground maintenance
CASE
Catering to all tastes
RA International was asked to provide on-going life support
services for 65 international personnel in a camp we con-
structed with en-suite accommodation for all residents. There
are fully catered dining facilities, recreation facilities, meeting
and conference rooms, clinic and wireless Internet services.
Frozen, fresh and dry food supplies are delivered to the site
on time by sea and air.
CASE
Exploration camp
In this remote mining and exploration camp, RA International
was asked to provide life support and facilities maintenance
services, with space for up to 20 residents. The contractor’s
goal was to be fully self-sufficient, so we also built a contrac-
tor’s camp on site.

SUPPLY CHAIN
Is there an established supplier and logistics partner net-
work where you’re heading? If not, how will you ensure
that food supplies, maintenance supplies, spare parts
and general goods are procured and delivered when you
need them?
At RA International, we cast our nets wide and take
advantage of the best that international and local sup-
pliers have to offer. All our suppliers are carefully vetted
to ensure that their commitments are attainable – with
regard to quality, quantity and lead times. We develop
and implement turnkey supply chain solutions to help
you get new projects off the ground, or to keep existing
facilities and plant/equipment going. Our offer includes
in-house or third-party consulting services, sophisticated
management and software solutions, load consolidation,
warehousing, transport, freight forwarding and clearance
of goods.
CASE
1,000-person camp project
RA International was contracted by a client to deliver a full
1,000-person prefabricated camp by air to a military zone.
This involved 50 air deliveries, using chartered IL76 aircraft,
and the whole delivery was completed in five days, with two
aircraft carrying out five lifts per day. We also coordinated
ground transport to make sure all goods were available for
loading into the aircraft in the right sequence.
CASE
Coordinated deliveries
An international communications operator asked
RA International to coordinate the delivery of communica-
tions equipment and material to a post-crisis location. The
expensive equipment came from six international locations,
and its arrival by air and sea had to coincide with the arrival
of technicians and engineers on site. We facilitated customs
clearance at sea and cooperated with military escorts to
ensure safe deliveries.
Our supply chain service offer includes:
– Warehousing and yard management
– Inventory control
– International procurement
– Local procurement of material, equipment and
	 food supplies
– Delivery by air, road and sea
– Last-mile logistics into remote sites
– Site and location analysis
– Goods consolidation and repacking

MINING
You’re opening a new mine. To make it profitable, you have to
get production started quickly and cost-effectively. But there
have been countless delays, and every wasted day is costing you
money. What do you do?
Today’s mining industry is more competitive than ever, so there
is a strong focus on reducing start-up production costs and,
once up and running, on increasing productivity. RA gets things
moving. In the startup phase, our rapid mobilization helps your
exploration team get on the ground as quickly as possible.
With our established supply chain, logistical support routes and
close relations with local communities in most of Africa, we can
quickly build secure, fully serviced and rapidly expandable com-
pounds. From small-scale to 1000+ people, they provide all the
necessary life support services: power generation, water treat-
ment, catering, cleaning, laundry, vehicle and equipment repair,
medical clinics and PX. Mining projects are sometimes located in
remote, and even post-conflict, areas, and we are fully capable
of supporting your ventures in these locations, too.
We understand the infrastructure construction problems you
face, particularly in your mine’s early days. Your main plant con-
tractor is long gone, and the mining contractor is not equipped
to handle projects such as new roads, communication masts,
office blocks and storage facilities. But we are.
14 | WE DELIVER. REGARDLESS.
OIL & GAS
You aim to start drilling in a region notorious for its destructive
dust storms. How will you prevent valuable equipment grinding
to a halt? RA has proven credentials in the oil and gas industry,
and we are capable of supporting all projects, even in the most
remote or post-conflict areas. Whatever the weather, we can
provide all the technical support you need to ensure your site
keeps functioning.
We provide full life support services for your employees with a
high level of comfort to ensure their productivity, and our flex-
ible camps can be scaled up to 1000+ residents whenever you
decide to expand.
As your project develops and matures, you will almost certainly
have to supplement your infrastructure. How can you provide
the extra facilities you need when your onsite employees are
already busy with their own tasks? With RA International as
your service provider, you can simply task us with the job. We
are already there on your site, with the capacity and ability to
deliver additional offices, roadways and so forth quickly and
cost-effectively.
RA is ISO 9001, 14001 and 21000 certified and our personnel
are trained to understand their responsibilities for meeting and
exceeding international quality standards.

HUMANITARIAN
The conflict may have subsided, but everywhere you look, you
see the havoc it has wreaked. Where do you start cleaning up,
and restoring everyday life for the local people?
When the international community intervenes to stabilize a
nation, politically and economically, through reconstruction
efforts, RA is there to help. RA has over a decade of expe-
rience working with governments, NGOs and supranational
organizations in conflict and post-conflict regions. We are
specialists in completing projects in demanding environments.
We help you prevent more suffering by getting life back to
normal as quickly as possible.
We bring hope to conflict survivors by involving the local
community in our projects wherever possible and by inves-
ting in skills training. We often use local labour and resource
providers, and equip them with skills that will contribute to
sustained employment once stability has been restored.

We solve your problems on the spot
Your purchasing department ordered eco-vehicles, but
now you realize that your destination is 4,000 metres
above sea level. There’s snow on the ground, and those
engines just weren’t build for cold climates.
What do you do?
In this particular real life case, RA immediately flagged up
that there would be an issue with the planned vehicles.
However, since it proved impossible to revise the order, we
made sure there were back-up vehicles close to the site,
ready for leasing. The convoy drove ahead as planned, with
barely any time lost.
When things don’t turn out quite as planned, it helps to
work with people who know the terrain and its limitations.
At RA, all our staff has experience of working in remote
locations and challenging conditions. We’ve learnt to em-
brace the challenges, which means we can smooth the way
for you.
We research thoroughly
You thought the Sahara was dry? Actually, it rains some-
times. And when it rains, there are flash floods. You can
be swept off the road by a wave that seems to come from
nowhere. How do you deal with it?
You can rest assured that in any location where RA offers
support, we have already done thorough ground research
ahead of your request. Our teams have visited the region
over a period of 2-3 years, gathering information about the
roads, the weather conditions and any other mission-
critical information. We can’t stop flash floods in the desert,
but we can help you plan ahead and avoid them.
.
We get you started, fast
What if you need a full-service catering operation in the
remote borderlands of Chad – and you need it set up
within a week? What do you do?
Whether you’re heading for West, Central or East Africa,
RA can have an advance team on site to kick the project
off within 72 hours, closely followed by reinforcements. Our
project managers are all prepared for rapid mobilization
and we have a large database of contract staff who have
worked for RA on previous contracts and are happy to join
us again. In addition, pre-qualified suppliers of equipment
and fast logistical capabilities enable us to ramp up quickly
for new contracts. It helps that we already know who to
deal with – and how to get things done in a hurry.
We handle the challenges
You need a camp set up in a remote African location. It’s
two weeks’ drive from the capital on dirt roads. The popu-
lation is divided and there are known rebel strongholds on
your route. What do you do?
When RA was asked by the United Nations to build accom-
modation for a peacekeeping force in Tine, near Darfur, it
looked like an impossible mission. Tine is a long way from
the capital, a journey that would take us through a country
scattered with 27,000 AU soldiers and at least four rebel
bases. But the peacekeeping force needed a base from
which to ensure the safe return of refugees, and – in spite
of the many challenges and risks involved – we managed to
give them one.

Cooperation
RA International is staffed by people who know how
things work in Africa and beyond. When setting up in
new locations, we are careful not to impose on the host
culture. We source local content and work together to
achieve common objectives. Our multi-cultural, mul-
ti-lingual workforce cooperates with people on the
ground, and builds the trust that’s needed to get things
done. As a customer, this means you benefit from not
only a quick set up, but also a cooperative local commu-
nity, and sustainable success.
Giving back
Our goal is to establish mutually beneficial and sustaina-
ble relationships with local people and contribute to their
long-term prosperity. An example of this is that we
commit a percentage of our annual profits to local
communities. These financial contributions have enabled
us to, for example, support the building of a school for
children in Kenya, supply medicines to a clinic in Soma-
lia, and provide paid staff to help out during the Ebola
epidemic in Sierra Leone.
Support for local business
Our goal is to procure as much as we can locally to
encourage the growth of small- and medium-sized
enterprises in the communities where we operate, while
maintaining high standards of quality and service deliv-
ery. We always hire pre-qualified suppliers and conduct
continuous quality controls and inspections.
Recruitment
RA is capable of recruiting for niche markets from a
position of strength and local knowledge, combined with
international standards and substantial research. Our
experience in recruiting, employing and deploying staff
internationally in remote and inhospitable places is un-
matched. Our HR Planning function helps companies se-
eking to reduce cluster risk and costs and to significantly
improve the quality of people deployed to challenging
environments. We have delivered accredited training and
knowledge transfer to over 7000 local personnel.
Honesty, fairness and trust
RA categorically supports the ten principles of the UN
Global Compact. The 10th Principle requires participants
not only to avoid corruption, but also to develop poli-
cies and concrete programmes to address it. With this in
mind, our business relationships are firmly founded on
honesty, fairness and trust.
Health and safety
Health and safety occupies an especially critical position
in our business, and RA has the industry’s best track
record. All our customers’ operations involve signifi-
cant and diverse risks – from heavy loads and heights
to the presence of explosives and potentially hazardous
equipment. We work relentlessly to create a safe wor-
king environment that supports high quality standards
with minimal environmental impact. Each project has its
own customized Security Plan, and all personnel receive
induction training as well as regular refresher courses on
emergency response. We strive to ensure our procedures
and protocol support Health, Safety, Environment and
Quality (HSEQ). We stress the importance of Personal
Protection Equipment (PPE) and commitment to HSE
regulations, and generally build awareness of the risks
involved.
THE RA INTERNATIONAL WAY OF WORKING.
SUSTAINABLE SUCCESS.
Our way of working, in brief
– We partner with NGOs and commit 3% of profits to a
development fund to add value to communities
– We donate funds every month to projects in the countries
	 where we work
– We assist in the establishment of small businesses
– We are committed to equality of opportunity in employment
– We commit to HSEQ procedures and protocols

WE KNOW AFRICA.
We understand diversity, regardless.
With 54 countries and covering over 30 million square
kilometres, Africa is the world’s second-largest continent.
It is also one of the world’s most complex territories.
Home to 16% of the world’s population, Africa has ap-
proximately 3000 distinct ethnic groups and an estimat-
ed 1500 – 2000 different languages are spoken.
To understand the full extent of Africa’s diversity, we
have to look back to a time when Africa comprised up
to 10,000 different states and autonomous groups with
distinct languages and customs. Nobody understands this
diversity like we do. We know what to expect… and we
expect the unexpected. Every project has a plethora of
moving parts, all of which have to come together on time
and on budget. This can’t be achieved without local coun-
try organizations and experience and a robust network of
people on the ground.
The good news for our customers is that we do all the
necessary groundwork before entering a new country or
region to avoid these common pitfalls. Our local knowl-
edge is backed up by years of experience. So if circum-
stances change, or something unexpected comes up, we
can always adjust our plan and deliver regardless. From
the farthest outpost of the Sahara desert to the highest
mountain crossing in Tanzania we get you there, get your
operation set up… and keep it ticking over smoothly.
When the reality of remoteness strikes, you’ll be glad
you chose RA International.

STRONG LEADERSHIP.
Looking after our clients, regardless.
RA’s team of Directors and Senior Management has the
breadth of talent and experience required to support our
clients. Offering diverse skills acquired over many years
working in global business and humanitarian operations,
it has the pragmatism and flexibility to keep projects,
operations and programmes on track – even in dynamic
conflict and post-conflict environments, or in the remot-
est and most hostile territories. At RA, we have learnt
that even seemingly small problems can have a profound
impact on the mood on site, and therefore on productiv-
ity. So our leadership team does everything possible to
maintain morale by ensuring everything runs smoothly,
creating comfort and confidence for all involved.
Each member brings different skills and qualities, which
makes us a winning team that will ensure the success of
your venture. Recognized for her hands-on business and
NGO experience in Africa, the Middle East and Europe,
our CEO/Chairman was named as one of the most influ-

HUMANITARIAN The conflict mayhave subsided, but everywhere you look, you see the havoc it has wreaked. Where do you start cleaning up, and restoring everyday life for the local people? When the international community intervenes to stabilize a nation, politically and economically, through reconstruction efforts, RA is there to help. RA has over a decade of expe- rience working with governments, NGOs and supranational organizations in conflict and post-conflict regions. We are specialists in completing projects in demanding environments. We help you prevent more suffering by getting life back to normal as quickly as possible. We bring hope to conflict survivors by involving the local community in our projects wherever possible and by inves- ting in skills training. We often use local labour and resource providers, and equip them with skills that will contribute to sustained employment once stability has been restored. 16 | WE DELIVER. REGARDLESS.

We solve yourproblems on the spot Your purchasing department ordered eco-vehicles, but now you realize that your destination is 4,000 metres above sea level. There’s snow on the ground, and those engines just weren’t build for cold climates. What do you do? In this particular real life case, RA immediately flagged up that there would be an issue with the planned vehicles. However, since it proved impossible to revise the order, we made sure there were back-up vehicles close to the site, ready for leasing. The convoy drove ahead as planned, with barely any time lost. When things don’t turn out quite as planned, it helps to work with people who know the terrain and its limitations. At RA, all our staff has experience of working in remote locations and challenging conditions. We’ve learnt to em- brace the challenges, which means we can smooth the way for you. We research thoroughly You thought the Sahara was dry? Actually, it rains some- times. And when it rains, there are flash floods. You can be swept off the road by a wave that seems to come from nowhere. How do you deal with it? You can rest assured that in any location where RA offers support, we have already done thorough ground research ahead of your request. Our teams have visited the region over a period of 2-3 years, gathering information about the roads, the weather conditions and any other mission- critical information. We can’t stop flash floods in the desert, but we can help you plan ahead and avoid them. . We get you started, fast What if you need a full-service catering operation in the remote borderlands of Chad – and you need it set up within a week? What do you do? Whether you’re heading for West, Central or East Africa, RA can have an advance team on site to kick the project off within 72 hours, closely followed by reinforcements. Our project managers are all prepared for rapid mobilization and we have a large database of contract staff who have worked for RA on previous contracts and are happy to join us again. In addition, pre-qualified suppliers of equipment and fast logistical capabilities enable us to ramp up quickly for new contracts. It helps that we already know who to deal with – and how to get things done in a hurry. We handle the challenges You need a camp set up in a remote African location. It’s two weeks’ drive from the capital on dirt roads. The popu- lation is divided and there are known rebel strongholds on your route. What do you do? When RA was asked by the United Nations to build accom- modation for a peacekeeping force in Tine, near Darfur, it looked like an impossible mission. Tine is a long way from the capital, a journey that would take us through a country scattered with 27,000 AU soldiers and at least four rebel bases. But the peacekeeping force needed a base from which to ensure the safe return of refugees, and – in spite of the many challenges and risks involved – we managed to give them one. SOLVING PROBLEMS. Cooperation RA International isstaffed by people who know how things work in Africa and beyond. When setting up in new locations, we are careful not to impose on the host culture. We source local content and work together to achieve common objectives. Our multi-cultural, mul- ti-lingual workforce cooperates with people on the ground, and builds the trust that’s needed to get things done. As a customer, this means you benefit from not only a quick set up, but also a cooperative local commu- nity, and sustainable success. Giving back Our goal is to establish mutually beneficial and sustaina- ble relationships with local people and contribute to their long-term prosperity. An example of this is that we commit a percentage of our annual profits to local communities. These financial contributions have enabled us to, for example, support the building of a school for children in Kenya, supply medicines to a clinic in Soma- lia, and provide paid staff to help out during the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone. Support for local business Our goal is to procure as much as we can locally to encourage the growth of small- and medium-sized enterprises in the communities where we operate, while maintaining high standards of quality and service deliv- ery. We always hire pre-qualified suppliers and conduct continuous quality controls and inspections. Recruitment RA is capable of recruiting for niche markets from a position of strength and local knowledge, combined with international standards and substantial research. Our experience in recruiting, employing and deploying staff internationally in remote and inhospitable places is un- matched. Our HR Planning function helps companies se- eking to reduce cluster risk and costs and to significantly improve the quality of people deployed to challenging environments. We have delivered accredited training and knowledge transfer to over 7000 local personnel. Honesty, fairness and trust RA categorically supports the ten principles of the UN Global Compact. The 10th Principle requires participants not only to avoid corruption, but also to develop poli- cies and concrete programmes to address it. With this in mind, our business relationships are firmly founded on honesty, fairness and trust. Health and safety Health and safety occupies an especially critical position in our business, and RA has the industry’s best track record. All our customers’ operations involve signifi- cant and diverse risks – from heavy loads and heights to the presence of explosives and potentially hazardous equipment. We work relentlessly to create a safe wor- king environment that supports high quality standards with minimal environmental impact. Each project has its own customized Security Plan, and all personnel receive induction training as well as regular refresher courses on emergency response. We strive to ensure our procedures and protocol support Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ). We stress the importance of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and commitment to HSE regulations, and generally build awareness of the risks involved. THE RA INTERNATIONAL WAY OF WORKING. 54countries 33million square km 1billionin population, and growing WE KNOW AFRICA. We understand diversity, regardless. With 54 countries and covering over 30 million square kilometres, Africa is the world’s second-largest continent. It is also one of the world’s most complex territories. Home to 16% of the world’s population, Africa has ap- proximately 3000 distinct ethnic groups and an estimat- ed 1500 – 2000 different languages are spoken. To understand the full extent of Africa’s diversity, we have to look back to a time when Africa comprised up to 10,000 different states and autonomous groups with distinct languages and customs. Nobody understands this diversity like we do. We know what to expect… and we expect the unexpected. Every project has a plethora of moving parts, all of which have to come together on time and on budget. This can’t be achieved without local coun- try organizations and experience and a robust network of people on the ground. The good news for our customers is that we do all the necessary groundwork before entering a new country or region to avoid these common pitfalls. Our local knowl- edge is backed up by years of experience. So if circum- stances change, or something unexpected comes up, we can always adjust our plan and deliver regardless. From the farthest outpost of the Sahara desert to the highest mountain crossing in Tanzania we get you there, get your operation set up… and keep it ticking over smoothly. When the reality of remoteness strikes, you’ll be glad you chose RA International. 22 | WE DELIVER. REGARDLESS.
