This document analyzes three different radio advertisements. The first is a 1:01 advertisement for KFC's Halloween specials that uses a Dracula voice and spooky sound effects. The second is a 00:41 advertisement for the loan company Wonga that relies heavily on its well-known jingle. The third is a 0:35 advertisement for Thorpe Park's Fright Night that uses a modified birthday tune and deep voiced dialogue to set a scary tone.
2. KFC Radio Advert
• This radio advert is 1:01 long and it includes
dialogue of Halloweens special offers for KFC they
used a Dracula voice to make it more obvious to
the reader what the advert is about and
throughout they had background music and
sound effects of thunder and screams all relating
to the chicken in KFC.
• The last line says “whatever you do don’t eat it
alone” this implies that its haunted so it goes
with the theme of the advert for Halloween. They
then use the ‘evil laugh’ at the very end to close
the advert.
3. Wonga Radio Advert
• This radio advert is 00:41. This is for a Wonga
advert, which is a company that offers short-term
loans.
• They use a jingle in the majority of this radio advert
because its well known by the audience so they can
recognize the company that is being advertised.
• There is dialogue at the end but not much of it as
its well established so people know what
wonga.com is about already. However the dialogue
tells people that may not know about it what it is.
4. Thorpe Park Radio Advert
• This radio advert is 0:35 and is based round Thorpe
parks fright night.
• They start off using a birthday tune but add different
effects to make it sound scary. This music carries on
through out the advert but becomes background music
when the dialogue starts.
• They have used a person with a deep voice doing the
dialogue so it seems more mysterious and scary to the
audience.
• The music and dialogue tell the audience what the
advert is about and what time of year it is for it to be
fright night in order for them to go.
