As part of the research for The Silverstone Virtual Museum, Elin researched the different Formula 1 tracks around the World

2. • The race track is in Barcelona
• Drivers have raced there since 1991.
• It has high and low speed corners and it has a
bumpy road.
• The final two corner is known as New
Holland and it is one of the biggest
challenges of the season.
• It hosted for the thirteenth time in 2003
the Spanish Grand Prix.
• It’s first official race was on 29th
September 1991.
• The length of the circuit is 4.655 km.

3. • It has slow speed corners and high speed sections
• At the end of the lap the track goes down hill
• It does not provide a lot of over tacking chances
so most races are uneventfull
• In 1999 the race had to be restarted because
there was lots of rain.
• In 2006 Michael Schumacher was the first
driver to win any single grand prix 8 times at the
same circuit.

4. • Grand Prix motor racing was first
established in Britain by Henry
Segrave at Brooklands in 1926.
• The first race was on the 13th
May 1950. The winner was
Giuseppe ‘Nino’ Farina.
• The biggest crowd at Silverstone
for 15 years is 310,000 people.
• Before Silverstone was a race track,
it was a RAF base.

5. • The first races were between 1922 to 1928
• The shape of Monza circuit is the shape of a
shoe boot
• The Monza circuit is in Italy

6. • This race track is in Germany
• It was built in 1939
• It was changed after the 2001 German grand prix
• Each lap is 4.574km
• It is one of the highest attended
races in the F1 world
championship calendar

7. • This race track is in Monte Carlo
• Monaco is a street circuit laid in the streets of
Monte Carlo
• The circuit is tight and twisty with no room to over
take as the course is too narrow.
• The circuits is very dangerous and if it was not
already in the grand prix it wouldn’t be allowed to
be added to the F1 schedule due to safety reasons

8. • This race track is in San Marino
• The track is 3.063 miles long
• It opened in 1952
