Inspiration has always remained a complex phenomenon in the discipline of design. Students/designers usually face difficulty manipulating their inspiration into visuals. The present assignment is planned to reinforce the idea of visual representation of inspiration. Students will select a daily life object (Coke in the current case) and visually depict their thoughts and ideas through different art mediums. Students will appreciate using the elements of art (line, shapes, forms, value, color, space, and texture) and principles of design (harmony/unity, rhythm & movement, contrast, variety, scale & proportion, pattern, emphasis, balance) to support their composition/arrangement. After creating the surface, students will convert the design according to block repeat using the L shape method and visually explore the design repeats through photocopy or printouts.
