Amount of people
When carrying out research into audience feedback, a questionnaire was created to
record the responses given and to find out how our audience felt about our video and
how they felt it could be improved. One question given to our audience was ‘would
you watch this music video on television?’ 12/12 people answered yes they would
watch it, some replies are quoted below:
• The song is very catchy
• Memorable fro audience
• Good effects/techniques used
• Visual image keeps you interested
This shows that our audience thought that our music video was realistic and of a good
standard, parallel to that already seen within the industry.
Pop was the genre our music video belonged to; we thought it was important to see
whether the audience picked up on this through the way we depicted the visual image.
When we received feedback from our questionnaire, it was reassuring to see that they
all identified the video as pop. We tried to represent the stereotypes and conventions
of the genre, through the use of glitter, striking make-up and performance. Within our
video there was a constant element of pop, through the use glitter, striking make-up
and performance.
The locations used within our video were very minimal and basic as we wanted to
create binary opposition between a highly glamorous artist in a gritty urban estate. We
used this to try and break the boundaries of the stereotypical view of a working class
environment by glamorising our artist. When our audience was asked to give their
opinions on the locations used and whether they were effective in producing a pop
theme. Some of the information given in the feedback included:
• Contrast in genre and location is different and
memorable, creating imaginative star persona
• Contrast between glamorous artist and estate is
very effective
• Effective as strongly relates to pop genre
3. Daniella Lawrence Question 3
A2 Media production
Overall, from carrying out audience feedback, we have learnt that our music video has
been successful in meeting the needs of our viewers but also ways that we could
improve it to ensure being successful. We have learnt that timing is a very important
element within a video as it creates a sense of realism if it is in sync, as ours was a
little slow at times; we have learnt to enhance syncing exact next time around.
Ensuring your visual relate to the genre of your video is also an essential element as it
helps create meaning for your audience, helping them follow the narrative and keep
them entertained.
