Deep Learning Explained: The future of Artificial Intelligence and Smart Netw...Melanie Swan
This talk provides an overview of an important emerging artificial intelligence technology, deep learning neural networks. Deep learning is a branch of computer science focused on machine learning algorithms that model and make predictions about data. A key distinction is that deep learning is not merely a software program, but a new class of information technology that is changing the concept of the modern technology project by replacing hard-coded software with a capacity to learn and execute tasks. In the future, deep learning smart networks might comprise a global computational infrastructure tackling real-time data science problems such as global health monitoring, energy storage and transmission, and financial risk assessment.
Keynote from Intellifest 2012 addressing the differences between narrow (classical) Artificial Intelligence and Artificial General Intelligence. Implications of cloud computing for AGI are also discussed.
The evolution of semiconductor process technologies has enabled the design of low-cost, compact and high-performance embedded systems, which have enabled the concept of Internet of Things (IoT). In addition, technological advances in communication protocols and unsupervised Machine Learning (ML) techniques are leading to disruptive innovations. As a result, the IoT, a new era of massive numbers of smart connected devices, can enhance processes and enable new services in established industries, creating smart cities, e-health businesses, or industry 4.0.
However, major challenges remain in achieving this potential due to the inherent complexity of designing energy-efficient IoT architectures. Prof. Atienza will first present the challenges of ultra-low power (ULP) design and communication overhead in next-generation IoT devices in the context of Big Data processing. Then, the benefits of exploiting the latest knowledge of how mammalian nervous systems acquire, process, and share information between the internal systems to conceive future edge AI-enabled architectures for IoT will be discussed
Industry of Things World - Berlin 19-09-16Boris Adryan
This talk makes the case for a measured use of big data pipelines and analytics methods based on the specific business case: one size doesn't fit all. Rather than buying the fastest stack and the most hyped methods, practitioners interested in analytics for Internet-of-Things deployments can save a lot of money by asking themselves a few questions that I lay out in the talk.
Artificial Intelligence Explained: What Are Generative Adversarial Networks (...Bernard Marr
There are many new developments in the field of artificial intelligence, and one of the most exciting and transformative ideas are Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). Here we explain in simple terms what they are.

Tom Soderstrom, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, has demonstrated how internet-of-things (IoT) technology and cloud computing can form the backbone for monumental innovation. This combination has enabled private and public space exploration enterprises to dare greatly and, together, discover more of the solar system than ever before. Cloud computing, with its unlimited storage and compute resources, blends IoT, machine learning, intelligent assistance, and new interfaces with computers. It has the potential to allow humans to explore and colonize other areas of the solar system by enabling collaboration across millions of miles, and social networking on a planetary scale.
Introductory lecture to module on Management of Innovation and Technology . This presentation is the first lecture of the module " Management of Innovation and Technology" which was prepared for the students enrolled in the Masters in Biotechnology program, at Grenoble ecole de management, France. It introduces the students to the different technologies that are currently disrupting the economy, and is aimed at a business audience. Slides were updated on November 2015.
Vertex Perspectives | AI Optimized Chipsets | Part IVVertex Holdings
In this instalment, we delve into other emerging technologies including neuromorphic chips and quantum computing systems, to examine their promise as alternative AI-optimized chipsets.
How to multiply your technology contribution by developing business acumenAnurag Gupta
The talk discusses technology and business tends and a framework and strategy to identify, evaluate and decide which are the most fruitful problems to work on. This enables an engineer’s technology contributions to be multiplied manifold.
