Re: Qualification Certificate Program – Steamfitter-Pipefitter, a compulsory trade.
Dear Mr. Dungala:
We have received your application and supporting letter from Thermo Design Engineering Ltd (5728). It appears you have the work experience in
the trade required under the Qualification Certificate Program as verified by a senior official within Thermo Design Engineering Ltd. This permits
you to work in the trade in Alberta under the supervision of a certified journeyperson in your trade. The Qualification process includes:
A Letter of Declaration from your Alberta employer confirming that you are performing the tasks and activities of the trade at the level
expected of a certified journeyperson.
Challenging the trade examination(s).
Obtaining a pass mark of 70% or more.
Within seven (7) days after your arrival in Alberta, you must provide your Alberta mailing address, the name of your employer, phone number(s),
and the date of your arrival in Alberta to the International & Provincial Assessment Services office. Please use the attached form to submit this
information.
In order to schedule an examination, your employer is required to submit an acceptable Letter of Declaration. Once we have received your employer
information, we will contact your employer for the Letter of Declaration and upon receipt; you will be scheduled for your theory examination. A
notice identifying the place, date and time of the examination will be mailed to you and your employer.
You will have 12 months to obtain your Alberta Qualification Certificate. If you do not obtain certification, your application will be cancelled and
you will no longer be permitted to work in the trade. It is expected that you will challenge your exam(s) within the first 180 days after arrival.
This letter is valid for one year. If you do not arrive in Alberta on or before July 18, 2015, you must re-apply under the Qualification
Certificate Program.
This original letter must be included with your work permit application that you submit to a visa office or that you present at any Port of
Entry into Canada.
