QUADRILATERALS
QUADRILATERAL
● A quadrilateral is a
polygon with four sides,
four vertices and four
angles.
● The sum of measures of
their interior angles is
360°.
PARALLELOGRAM
● Is a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides. Its opposite
sides are parallel and congruent. The opposite angles are also
equal.
SPECIAL CASES OF
PARALLELOGRAMS
RECTANGLE
● Aside from having two pairs of parallel sides that are
congruent, a rectangle has four right angles.
RHOMBUS
● It has four congruent sides.
SQUARE
● It has four congruent sides and four equal angles.
TRAPEZOID
● Is a quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel sides. Its
nonparallel sides may or may not be congruent. When its
nonparallel sides are congruent, it is an isosceles trapezoid.
KITE
● Is a quadrilateral with two pairs of sides that are congruent.
Unlike parallelograms, its congruent sides are consecutive
(next to each other).
