But of course we’d like to do more to help small businesses here.

My reflections:
Huge amount of dealflow coming through
Great developments in across the UK in both tech and life sciences, (NW input here) locally to Bristol Unit Dx and now DY being shining examples of this, alongside QTEC. Everywhere you look UK universities and cities are looking to encourage entrepreneurialism more and more
Impact investing becoming more prominent
Bullish investor attitude in the VC space despite the uncertainties politically – developing internationally USA, Australia
Developments in the angel space – UKBAA fund (insert name here) but still work to go. This is where Deepbridge Syndicate fits in to fill the massive gap between fully fledged angel investors and crowdfunding – an angel training ground.

Bit of uncertainty, B and political uncertainty, (woodford fund failure, people didn’t realise their exposure to unquoted stock – our motto is that unquoted stock is better with EIS because the downsides are covered and you know what stock you’ve got)
Some shocks to the system – large renewable failing… reiterated the importance of understanding the riskiness, but the potential of high growth is the trick.
Entrepreneurial side – a lot going on in this space, no slow down on founders wanting funding. EU funding drying up so increased demand for EIS SEIS.
