Duration- An average teaser trailer normally lasts between
30 and 1.30 seconds. Our teaser trailer was 1.04
seconds, similar to the teaser trailer in which we referred
to; ‘The Blair Witch Project’ which was 1.03 seconds
long.
The typical editing style of a teaser trailer is fast-paced
and ... Our editing however was slower paced and
included some slow motion effects and some shots with a
longer duration in order to build tension; although we had
long shots, we included clips that cut quickly and...

3. In terms of sound teaser trailers, there is normally a soundtrack and sound effects,
although there is not much dialogue. In our teaser trailer we knew that we
needed music that emphasized the mood and tension of the trailer, therefore
we created a soundtrack on Garage Band, however this didn’t compliment to
footage very much, so we eventually decided to find royalty free music online
that fitted better.

We also decided to include a voiceover, so we
recorded ourselves using an iPhone singing
the ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ nursery rhyme in a
creepy tone of voice and added this layer
onto our original music. This worked well as it
created an eerie feel.
We also included text of the lyrics in time of
when they were heard which added
suspense; which is another convention of a
teaser trailer.
5. Our poster followed conventions such
as including a billing block that was
placed at the bottom of our poster; it
also included a key convention
which was to include the title of the
film on the poster.

Creating our magazine involved a lot of research into the
key conventions and layout; we decided to name our
magazine ‘Reel Talk’ incorporating the film element (film
reel). The main magazine in which we took inspiration
from was ‘Movie Maker’.
7. Genre
Conventions
The narrative of a thriller usually involves crime; from
robbery to kidnapping to murders, the protagonist of the
film then sets out to uncover the mystery. In our teaser
trailer however, only an element of our narrative is shown,
which is the girl getting stalked and kidnapped.

8. Genre
Conventions
A typical thriller is set in isolated/abandoned areas; we used
the setting of a woodland as during our research lots of
these films were set in the woods, such as ‘The Blair
Witch Project’ which we looked at a lot.
9. Genre
Conventions
In regards to the character typically used in thriller films,
there are often stalkers, criminals, innocent victims,
murderers and menaced women. In our trailer we have a
stalker and an innocent victim, which were 2 key
conventions of a thriller.

10. Genre
Conventions
Iconography in thrillers often includes things such as
shadows, finger prints, something/someone the victim
fears, weapons and confined spaces. In our trailer we
didn’t stick to all of these conventions, we had someone
the victim feared which was the stalker.
