Push in Badminton
1. PUSH
• once you have the chance to really
push the shuttlecock past over the
front player to the mid-court area so
that the back-court player has to
stretch forward to make a return.
WHEN TO PLAY
• When no interception from front court
opponent and back court opponent find
it difficult to return.
QUALITY
INDICATOR
• Hitting it too slowly so front court player
kills it. Hitting it too high/deep so that
back court player gets an easy shot.
COMMON
MISTAKES WITH
THE PUSH
2. How to utilize push technique in
badminton?
By a push shot that is a gentle shot played
by pushing the shuttlecock with
a little wrist motion.
There must be minimal backswing. Racket
face and shuttle making contact from a
relatively high position as the shuttle is
dropped into the path of the racket face.
The body should not affect the strength of
shot, the forward movement coming
exclusively from the push of racket face
on the shuttle.
3. How to utilize push technique in
badminton?
Keep both your legs and upper body
stable. The low serve can be delivered
from either the forehand or the backhand.
When you are proficient in both low and
high service delivery, make sure you use
them.
Mix it to keep the opponent guessing,
and, therefore, creates uncertainty in
their minds.
