Punjab is a state in northern India known for its cultural heritage and five rivers. The traditional clothing of Punjab reflects its vibrant culture, with women typically wearing salwar kameez and men wearing kurta pyjama with a turban. Some major festivals celebrated in Punjab are Lohri, Baisakhi, and Gurpurabs. Punjabi cuisine is diverse and features many breads like naan, paratha and poori. Popular vegetarian dishes include sarson ka saag and dal makhani while non-vegetarian options include tandoori chicken and butter chicken. 2. Punjab is in Northern India.
It has a long history and rich cultural heritage.
Punjab is said to have derived its name from the five rivers
that flow through it.
The Indus, Ravi, Beas, Sutlej and Ghaggar rivers.
“Pung” means five and “aab” means water so Punjab means
five waters.
The people of Punjab are called “Punjabis” and speak the
language called “Punjabi”.

3. Punjabi Clothing
The Punjabi traditional clothing is very
diverse & indicates the bright & vibrant culture
& lifestyle of the people.
Women: Phulkari(a type of flower work ) is
among the popular traditional women wear.
Generally female of Punjab wears Salwar-
Kameez with bright color Chunnis.
Men:The customary costume for men
in Punjab is Kurta Pyjama with Paghri
(turban). Men also wear kurta with Tehmat
(lungi).

4. Lohri: is one of the greatest festivals of the state. The people of
Punjab show their gratitude to god for providing them with the rich
resources. The festival gets a different flavor with traditional folk
songs and dances like the Bhangra, Giddha etc.
Baisakhi: is celebrated on the 13th of April every year, marking
the new year of Punjab. In Punjab, a primarily agricultural area,
this day is especially important as it’s the first day of harvest. The
fields are full and beautiful with nature's bounty, all ready to be cut
and collected on this day.
Gurpurabs: literally means 'festival of the guru'. The Sikhs
celebrate 10 Gurpurabs in a year. All Gurpurabs are considered
auspicious and important but special significance is given to the
birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh religion.
This falls in the month of Kartik (October / November).
