Tidung island is a 109 hectare island located in the Thousand Islands archipelago with around 5,000 inhabitants. It is divided into two islands, Small Tidung which has mangroves and beaches, and Big Tidung where around 4,000 people live. The island has beautiful beaches suitable for swimming, and gets its name from the word "tidung" meaning shelter, as it was once used as a refuge for pirates. Visitors can take ferries to Tidung island from Muara Angke or Marina Jaya in Ancol, with activities including snorkeling, biking, and banana boat rides once there.
