Tidung island is a 109 hectare island located in the Thousand Islands archipelago with around 5,000 inhabitants. It is divided into two islands, Small Tidung which has mangroves and beaches, and Big Tidung where around 4,000 people live. The island has beautiful beaches suitable for swimming, and gets its name from the word "tidung" meaning shelter, as it was once used as a refuge for pirates. Visitors can take ferries to Tidung island from Muara Angke or Marina Jaya in Ancol, with activities including snorkeling, biking, and banana boat rides once there.

Tidung island stretching lengthwise from west to east with an area of approximately 109 hectares and a​​
population of about 5000 inhabitants. Tidung island has a beautiful sea and beach that is not less than the
beaches in Bali. The island is divided into two, namely Tidung Island Small and Large Tidung which are both
connected a bridge with a length of 2 km.
Small Tidung be a breeding area of mangrove with weeds and soft white sandy beaches. Meanwhile, Tidung​​

islands in the Thousand Islands cluster.
Tidung width is estimated at only 200 meters but the length is 5 km. The island is surrounded by white graded
shallow beach because coral overgrown and full of ornamental fish. The beaches are not great choppy because
of the cluster of coral that surrounds the coast is able to withstand the waves make it right for swimming.
Tidung name is derived from the word 'tidung' which means shelter. In the past this island is often used as a
refuge of pirates. Currently Fatahillah forces attacked Malacca, this island became one of the locations to plan
the attack. Tidung name is also associated with the tribe Tidung. Black is the Commander of the Royal Tarakan
in East Kalimantan. At that time he suffered defeat in tribal wars there so displaced with his family to the
Thousand Islands region that is now known as the Island Tidung or shelter.
Tidung island at the center of the District of South Thousand Islands which oversees three villages, namely: Pari
