This document provides instructions for searching PsycBITE, a free database containing citations and summaries of research on psychological problems resulting from acquired brain impairment. It describes PsycBITE's contents and sources, how to access it through the La Trobe University Library website, tips for searching like using keywords and Boolean operators, an example search on exercise and depression in dementia, and how search results are rated for methodological quality. It also explains how to find full text and provides additional help resources.

• A free database containing citations to systematic
reviews, randomised controlled trials, non-randomised
controlled trials, case series, and single participant
designs relating to psychological problems occurring as
a consequence of acquired brain impairment
• Studies are rated for their methodological quality using
the PEDro-P and SCED scales
• PsycBITE is located at the Rehabilitation Studies Unit,
Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney

• Click on the Search tab to access the search page
• Search using keywords and/or select from drop-down menus
• In keyword searches allow for spelling differences, e.g. include both
the terms “behaviour” and “behavior”
• You can combine search terms using AND and OR by using the
selector at the bottom of the search page

Methodological Quality Rating
• Randomised and non-randomised controlled trials are rated
