Abstract 
We humans, have the tendency to get even or get back at each other irrespective of time. 
Regardless of the scenario or situation, we are able to remember most or all the wrongdoings 
that are inflicted upon us. Sometimes we tend to get selfish, selfishness is not always 
something wrong, and however the extent to which one is selfish can change the outcome of a 
situation drastically. 
Once can deduce a hypothesis that most individuals are likely to prefer to work individually 
rather than in groups, during a recent survey which was carried out by a few architecture 
students. Based on this we can assume that because majority of the masses picked working 
individually it, it could decide that working in groups mostly result in efficiency, whatever the 
cause may be. This is probably due to the fact, some people slack more than others. 
From this point on, we can assume is where the problem emerges. Due to this phenomenon, 
human nature kicks in and automatically we tend to look for the easy way out. Usually this 
recedes in pushing or putting the blame on others.
Introduction 
We are going to act out a storyline about a person who has the habit of being selfish and 
they have misunderstand toward each other with the four characters, the character will be Ah 
Beng , Ali , Ah lien and The Boss. 
We going to act out the five concept that include social facilitation, self serving attribution, 
confirmation of being bias, conviaration theory and operation theory: these few concepts will 
be included in the individual and there also some concept in effect to the individual and by the 
individual, for example he submitted his assignment but the assignment is group work and he is 
the unpunctual one and he inform the boss about the work he contributed and complained 
about others this shows “self fulfillment “ this means he will console him self about the work he 
has done and blames the bad thing to others and his actions will make him suffer the 
consequences by cutting his salary “operation theory”. 
The storyline in our video is about Ah beng who is a lazy but talented architecture and that he 
is always punctual with his meal and with other situations, but he is always late for meetings 
and one day he had reached late for a meeting, his group was assigned a project that was due 
in a weeks time. Every day he was late but before the day of submission he reached early and 
he promised that he will do the work and overnight to finish the work, after the night he finish 
he submitted it to the boss but he complained that he did all the work and it made others feel 
offended, so after he had submitted the work, Ah beng meet Ali, Ali hated Ah beng because of 
the previous incident that happen, Ah beng had stolen Ali’s girlfriend and this caused hatred 
between the two of them, Ali hear this from his teammate and informed the boss and Ah beng 
was punished by cutting his salary.
PROCEDURES 
1. We need to prepare a storyline for 5 concept and we need a interesting character than can 
catch the attention. 
2. We will come up with 4 character Ah beng , Ah lian , Ali and the boss. 
3. Our storyline is talking about a person that happen some phscology and we made Ah beng 
as the main character. 
4. We well be prepare the character. Ng Kheng Soon “ Ah Beng “ , Woo Shir Ley “ Boss “ , 
Christina Ng Sue Li Moreira “Ah Lian “ , Afiq Nick “ Ali “ , Schani Barat “ camera man “. 
5. I will be acting as Ah Beng lazy but in the same way is talented , Ah beng will be in all the 
scenes of the movie and his actions will create psychology concept. 
6. We will arrange the scene with the revenue and make a suitable area for our acting. 
7. We will be acting in a classroom; most of the scenes will be talking. We will act the scenes 
that need to be taken in the room first, so we can settle the entire thing that take in the 
room. 
8. So after the scene that taken in the room, we will take the video of the scene, which is 
outdoors. 
9. After all the scenes that are taken, we will arrange all the scenes according to the original 
arrangement so that we will not be messy for our slide and explanation for our concept. 
10. After the arrangement for the video, we will arrange the concept to each scene that 
happened, and we going to edit the scene. 
11. Prepare the slide for explanation and we will prepare slide for the concept to show which 
scene is suit with the concept.
Method 
Participant 
The participant that will be in our video is that is our group member. And with have four 
character and a camera man . the participant need to act well with the character given . 
Because the characteristic is also will affect the concept that been chosen. as Ah beng he need 
to be more lazy and messy .But the requirement to act like Ah beng need to have confident 
look to show he is talented . Ali will be the person with a hate toward Ah Beng . Ah lian will be 
a high quality women and act like a rich women. The boss will be need to act for like a stubborn 
guy that he always think he is right. 
Material 
The materials that we need to prepare for our video we need two cameras for different angle 
and to take more realistic view. We also need tripod stand plus we need revenue, revenue like 
classroom to show more like a office with table and chair. We want to show the atmosphere of 
office. And will dress with a simply dress shirt to show that is like a simple project and not a big 
project that requires uniform.
Social facilitation is the tendency for people perform better on simple tasks when in the 
presence of other people. This implies that, whenever others are watching people, they will do 
well on things that they are already good at doing. 
So it can be related to the comic when Ah Beng over night and he can perform very well 
when there team mate present so this can strongly show the social facilitation concept by Ah 
Beng . The reason that we need to choose for social facilitation because in term our 
observation we saw that most people who intend not to be punctual. They will having the 
altitude of it . 
For example that they wil need to sometime need to rely on some one and if they are a lone 
they wont come out the better result this will be call social loafing . The role of social facilitation 
is important to consider in social situations, because it include that people's performance does 
not rely on their abilities, but is also impacted by the internal awareness of being evaluated. 
Performance can be greatly affected by some factors. This can be very important when 
considering how anyone will perform under evaluation and how to potentially prepare for 
those situations. This is also can be told is given motivation that drive you to do a particular 
thing well and better result. For example, if a professional basketball player practices shooting 
free throws with fake audience noise in the background, he will not feel as if he is under as 
much evaluation in a real game situation. Because the basketball player will feel like here no 
motivation and there is just not correct atmosphere. This is because the noise-pressured free 
throws will start to become a task rather than a complex task as he practices more. Although he 
will know that the fake noise is not evaluating him the same way that real crowd would, he is 
adjusting his awareness of the potential evaluation, and is thus trying to combat any harm that 
social facilitation could bring to his shooting abilities. 
Basicly Ah beng he work overnight with his team member, he wanted to show he got done 
some work and he want to show to teammate and let the teammate to evaluate him. He wants 
the teammate that he is the work men show. But He need some one to evaluate so it drive him 
to do better and perform well although overnight. He do this is for purpose and he won’t be 
regret or feel bad about it. Because he done. Basically Social facilitation about Ah beng , he 
perform well in his group and the reason he want to get evaluate by other team member . So 
when he is alone, he get no evaluation and didn’t get the pressure from the team member so 
he intend will not perform well. He has no purpose to do his work.
Second concept will be include in the story is confirmation bias. The scene where the flash 
back that Ah beng snatch the girlfriend from Ali. That scene where Ali confirmation bias toward 
Ah beng . This is creating stereotyping toward Ah Beng from Ali Because of the hate of Ali. 
Confirmation bias, also called my side bias, is the tendency to search for, interpret, or 
remember information in a way that confirms one's beliefs or hypotheses It is a type of 
cognitive bias and a systematic error of inductive reasoning they will be happen this bias there 
will have some experience and reason to effect you from confirmation bias. The effect is 
stronger for emotionally charged issues and for deeply related to beliefs and perspective. 
People also tend to interpret ambiguous evidence as supporting their existing position. 
Confirmation bias created when a disagreement becomes more extreme even though the 
different parties are exposed to the same evidence to hate or stereotyping each other, belief 
perseverance when beliefs persist after the evidence for them is shown that the perspective 
toward the guys is false thought. When people falsely perceive an association between two 
events or situations it creates argument toward it and it exists confirmation bias. 
Confirmation Bias also affects different situations such as environment, perspective, or 
social influence and evidence back then. When people judge a certain situation you will be 
belief of his thought and create misunderstood toward each parties. Once social influence that 
have influence other side of parties and if is false evidence or experience it will make the 
situation more deep and make it worst. The most important about confirmation bias is about 
perspective and experience before than. 
Such as in our video when Ali confirmation bias toward Ah beng . Because Ali stereotype 
Ah beng with his experience that give a false thought and he given a false impact toward Ah 
beng pekspektif . All thought how Ah Beng done great, Ali will still have other reason to cover 
negative thought. The false perceive an assiociation between Alli and Ah beng , they will have 
perspective crash . When Ah Beng been sterotyping by Ali is shown Ali have confirmation bias 
created disagreement toward Ah beng become more extreme and deep. The perspektif from 
Ali belief perseverance is Ah Beng is a Bitch and because of the incident that Ah Beng snatch Ali 
girlfriend and create evidence for Ali to confirmation toward Ah Beng
While when come to self-serving attribution it will be in the scene of the submitting day, 
when Ah Beng hand in the work with the team member. When he hand it he tell the boss, I do 
everything and he get extra bonus and he complaint about other member. 
The self-serving bias is when people give success internal attributes and failure external 
attributes .For an example. Kara is a runner. She is really good at it and wins lots of races. 
Whenever she wins a race, she tells herself that she won because she's talented and because 
she trained really hard. She attributes her win to internal forces; she won because of something 
within herself or something that she did . So as you can see in 
For example, if you notice that every time you don't study for a test, then you get a bad 
result, then you will start to tree bad grades and intend to not study. Many times, these 
patterns lead us to the correct attribution. For example, if you notice that every time you tell a 
certain joke, people laugh, then you might attribute people's laughter to the joke, and you're 
likely to be correct. Other way if you tell a joke, none of them laugh that mean your attribute is 
wrong. 
Sometimes, though, patterns can mislead us, and we can end up making attributions that 
aren't true. Most of the time, you're probably right that people are laughing at your jokes, but 
what if you're telling a joke at a particularly rowdy party? People may be laughing because 
they've had too much to drink, in which case your attribution is wrong. 
Our attributions help guide our future thoughts and behaviors. For example, if you make 
the attribution that not studying leads to bad grades, then you're more likely to study in the 
future. If you believe that your joke is the cause of your friends' laughter, even if it's not, then 
you're most likely to tell the joke in the future 
Ah Beng is a talented person because of his internal attribution and make everyone 
have negative thought toward Ah beng . Because of his internal attribution have make other 
people suffer or even create misunderstood .

Operantinal conditioning happens in the ending where Ah Beng has been punish by cutting the 
salary because he been complain by Ali . so the bonus that given by the Boss . This punishment 
will low down the morale of Ah Beng . 
Operant conditioning sometimes is a method of learning that occurs through rewards 
and punishments for mood. Through operant conditioning, an association is made between a 
behavior and a consequence for that behavior. For example, when a lab rat presses a blue 
button, he receives a food pellet as a reward, but when he presses the red button he receives a 
mild electric shock. As a result, he learns to press the blue button but avoid the red button.so 
basically that mean Ah Beng get the punishment of cut salary so he will be more punctual in the 
future . 
The story that related to the concept , Ah Beng he not punctual for his meeting and 
he do last minute work . he not even punctual in any meeting . So the leader have a bad view 
toward Ah Beng . The leader said that 8 we will start the work and is only have 5 day remaining 
so we need to be fast but Ah Beng is late for every day . The day before the submittion Ah Beng 
will rush the work . after night he finish the work with his team mate and he submit the workand 
he say is done by himself . After that ali and Ah Beng meet each other . Ali very hate Ah Beng 
so he heard the rumor that he always is late . So Ali come to complaint to The Boss . After the 
complaining the boss take away the bonus from Ah Beng . so the operation conditioning happen 
then it will make Ah Beng avoid from and be punctual .
Covariation Theory 
Consensus is how similarly other people act, given the same stimulus, as the person in question, do 
majority of people behave the same way in the same situation? If the answer is yes, then consensus is 
high. If the answer is no, then consensus is low. In the video, Ah Being came late for meeting, but the rest 
of the member didn't do so. Only Ah Beng being different from others. He is late so his consensus is low. 
Distinctiveness is how unique is the behaviour in the particular situation? Does this person act the same 
way in every situation? For example, does this person always order western food in every resaturant, no 
matter where he is? So the distinctiveness is low because no matter where he is, he still will order the 
same plate. 
In the video, Ah Beng is high distinctiveness as he can take his breakfast on time but he come late for 
every meeting. 
Consistency is how often does the behavior occur across time in this exact situation. For instance, does 
this person always eat western food for every meal? if yes then the consistency is high. Ah Beng is late 
for every meeting, so the consistency is high.

  • 1. AH BENG LIFE IN WORK Social psychology Ng Kheng Soon 0318946 Nik afiq amadi 0317749 Schani Daniel 0318788 Woo Shir Ley 0317732
  • 2. Abstract We humans, have the tendency to get even or get back at each other irrespective of time. Regardless of the scenario or situation, we are able to remember most or all the wrongdoings that are inflicted upon us. Sometimes we tend to get selfish, selfishness is not always something wrong, and however the extent to which one is selfish can change the outcome of a situation drastically. Once can deduce a hypothesis that most individuals are likely to prefer to work individually rather than in groups, during a recent survey which was carried out by a few architecture students. Based on this we can assume that because majority of the masses picked working individually it, it could decide that working in groups mostly result in efficiency, whatever the cause may be. This is probably due to the fact, some people slack more than others. From this point on, we can assume is where the problem emerges. Due to this phenomenon, human nature kicks in and automatically we tend to look for the easy way out. Usually this recedes in pushing or putting the blame on others.
  • 3. Introduction We are going to act out a storyline about a person who has the habit of being selfish and they have misunderstand toward each other with the four characters, the character will be Ah Beng , Ali , Ah lien and The Boss. We going to act out the five concept that include social facilitation, self serving attribution, confirmation of being bias, conviaration theory and operation theory: these few concepts will be included in the individual and there also some concept in effect to the individual and by the individual, for example he submitted his assignment but the assignment is group work and he is the unpunctual one and he inform the boss about the work he contributed and complained about others this shows “self fulfillment “ this means he will console him self about the work he has done and blames the bad thing to others and his actions will make him suffer the consequences by cutting his salary “operation theory”. The storyline in our video is about Ah beng who is a lazy but talented architecture and that he is always punctual with his meal and with other situations, but he is always late for meetings and one day he had reached late for a meeting, his group was assigned a project that was due in a weeks time. Every day he was late but before the day of submission he reached early and he promised that he will do the work and overnight to finish the work, after the night he finish he submitted it to the boss but he complained that he did all the work and it made others feel offended, so after he had submitted the work, Ah beng meet Ali, Ali hated Ah beng because of the previous incident that happen, Ah beng had stolen Ali’s girlfriend and this caused hatred between the two of them, Ali hear this from his teammate and informed the boss and Ah beng was punished by cutting his salary.
  • 4. PROCEDURES 1. We need to prepare a storyline for 5 concept and we need a interesting character than can catch the attention. 2. We will come up with 4 character Ah beng , Ah lian , Ali and the boss. 3. Our storyline is talking about a person that happen some phscology and we made Ah beng as the main character. 4. We well be prepare the character. Ng Kheng Soon “ Ah Beng “ , Woo Shir Ley “ Boss “ , Christina Ng Sue Li Moreira “Ah Lian “ , Afiq Nick “ Ali “ , Schani Barat “ camera man “. 5. I will be acting as Ah Beng lazy but in the same way is talented , Ah beng will be in all the scenes of the movie and his actions will create psychology concept. 6. We will arrange the scene with the revenue and make a suitable area for our acting. 7. We will be acting in a classroom; most of the scenes will be talking. We will act the scenes that need to be taken in the room first, so we can settle the entire thing that take in the room. 8. So after the scene that taken in the room, we will take the video of the scene, which is outdoors. 9. After all the scenes that are taken, we will arrange all the scenes according to the original arrangement so that we will not be messy for our slide and explanation for our concept. 10. After the arrangement for the video, we will arrange the concept to each scene that happened, and we going to edit the scene. 11. Prepare the slide for explanation and we will prepare slide for the concept to show which scene is suit with the concept.
  • 5. Method Participant The participant that will be in our video is that is our group member. And with have four character and a camera man . the participant need to act well with the character given . Because the characteristic is also will affect the concept that been chosen. as Ah beng he need to be more lazy and messy .But the requirement to act like Ah beng need to have confident look to show he is talented . Ali will be the person with a hate toward Ah Beng . Ah lian will be a high quality women and act like a rich women. The boss will be need to act for like a stubborn guy that he always think he is right. Material The materials that we need to prepare for our video we need two cameras for different angle and to take more realistic view. We also need tripod stand plus we need revenue, revenue like classroom to show more like a office with table and chair. We want to show the atmosphere of office. And will dress with a simply dress shirt to show that is like a simple project and not a big project that requires uniform.
  • 6. Social facilitation is the tendency for people perform better on simple tasks when in the presence of other people. This implies that, whenever others are watching people, they will do well on things that they are already good at doing. So it can be related to the comic when Ah Beng over night and he can perform very well when there team mate present so this can strongly show the social facilitation concept by Ah Beng . The reason that we need to choose for social facilitation because in term our observation we saw that most people who intend not to be punctual. They will having the altitude of it . For example that they wil need to sometime need to rely on some one and if they are a lone they wont come out the better result this will be call social loafing . The role of social facilitation is important to consider in social situations, because it include that people's performance does not rely on their abilities, but is also impacted by the internal awareness of being evaluated. Performance can be greatly affected by some factors. This can be very important when considering how anyone will perform under evaluation and how to potentially prepare for those situations. This is also can be told is given motivation that drive you to do a particular thing well and better result. For example, if a professional basketball player practices shooting free throws with fake audience noise in the background, he will not feel as if he is under as much evaluation in a real game situation. Because the basketball player will feel like here no motivation and there is just not correct atmosphere. This is because the noise-pressured free throws will start to become a task rather than a complex task as he practices more. Although he will know that the fake noise is not evaluating him the same way that real crowd would, he is adjusting his awareness of the potential evaluation, and is thus trying to combat any harm that social facilitation could bring to his shooting abilities. Basicly Ah beng he work overnight with his team member, he wanted to show he got done some work and he want to show to teammate and let the teammate to evaluate him. He wants the teammate that he is the work men show. But He need some one to evaluate so it drive him to do better and perform well although overnight. He do this is for purpose and he won’t be regret or feel bad about it. Because he done. Basically Social facilitation about Ah beng , he perform well in his group and the reason he want to get evaluate by other team member . So when he is alone, he get no evaluation and didn’t get the pressure from the team member so he intend will not perform well. He has no purpose to do his work.
  • 7. Second concept will be include in the story is confirmation bias. The scene where the flash back that Ah beng snatch the girlfriend from Ali. That scene where Ali confirmation bias toward Ah beng . This is creating stereotyping toward Ah Beng from Ali Because of the hate of Ali. Confirmation bias, also called my side bias, is the tendency to search for, interpret, or remember information in a way that confirms one's beliefs or hypotheses It is a type of cognitive bias and a systematic error of inductive reasoning they will be happen this bias there will have some experience and reason to effect you from confirmation bias. The effect is stronger for emotionally charged issues and for deeply related to beliefs and perspective. People also tend to interpret ambiguous evidence as supporting their existing position. Confirmation bias created when a disagreement becomes more extreme even though the different parties are exposed to the same evidence to hate or stereotyping each other, belief perseverance when beliefs persist after the evidence for them is shown that the perspective toward the guys is false thought. When people falsely perceive an association between two events or situations it creates argument toward it and it exists confirmation bias. Confirmation Bias also affects different situations such as environment, perspective, or social influence and evidence back then. When people judge a certain situation you will be belief of his thought and create misunderstood toward each parties. Once social influence that have influence other side of parties and if is false evidence or experience it will make the situation more deep and make it worst. The most important about confirmation bias is about perspective and experience before than. Such as in our video when Ali confirmation bias toward Ah beng . Because Ali stereotype Ah beng with his experience that give a false thought and he given a false impact toward Ah beng pekspektif . All thought how Ah Beng done great, Ali will still have other reason to cover negative thought. The false perceive an assiociation between Alli and Ah beng , they will have perspective crash . When Ah Beng been sterotyping by Ali is shown Ali have confirmation bias created disagreement toward Ah beng become more extreme and deep. The perspektif from Ali belief perseverance is Ah Beng is a Bitch and because of the incident that Ah Beng snatch Ali girlfriend and create evidence for Ali to confirmation toward Ah Beng
  • 8. While when come to self-serving attribution it will be in the scene of the submitting day, when Ah Beng hand in the work with the team member. When he hand it he tell the boss, I do everything and he get extra bonus and he complaint about other member. The self-serving bias is when people give success internal attributes and failure external attributes .For an example. Kara is a runner. She is really good at it and wins lots of races. Whenever she wins a race, she tells herself that she won because she's talented and because she trained really hard. She attributes her win to internal forces; she won because of something within herself or something that she did . So as you can see in For example, if you notice that every time you don't study for a test, then you get a bad result, then you will start to tree bad grades and intend to not study. Many times, these patterns lead us to the correct attribution. For example, if you notice that every time you tell a certain joke, people laugh, then you might attribute people's laughter to the joke, and you're likely to be correct. Other way if you tell a joke, none of them laugh that mean your attribute is wrong. Sometimes, though, patterns can mislead us, and we can end up making attributions that aren't true. Most of the time, you're probably right that people are laughing at your jokes, but what if you're telling a joke at a particularly rowdy party? People may be laughing because they've had too much to drink, in which case your attribution is wrong. Our attributions help guide our future thoughts and behaviors. For example, if you make the attribution that not studying leads to bad grades, then you're more likely to study in the future. If you believe that your joke is the cause of your friends' laughter, even if it's not, then you're most likely to tell the joke in the future Ah Beng is a talented person because of his internal attribution and make everyone have negative thought toward Ah beng . Because of his internal attribution have make other people suffer or even create misunderstood .

  • 10. Operantinal conditioning happens in the ending where Ah Beng has been punish by cutting the salary because he been complain by Ali . so the bonus that given by the Boss . This punishment will low down the morale of Ah Beng . Operant conditioning sometimes is a method of learning that occurs through rewards and punishments for mood. Through operant conditioning, an association is made between a behavior and a consequence for that behavior. For example, when a lab rat presses a blue button, he receives a food pellet as a reward, but when he presses the red button he receives a mild electric shock. As a result, he learns to press the blue button but avoid the red button.so basically that mean Ah Beng get the punishment of cut salary so he will be more punctual in the future . The story that related to the concept , Ah Beng he not punctual for his meeting and he do last minute work . he not even punctual in any meeting . So the leader have a bad view toward Ah Beng . The leader said that 8 we will start the work and is only have 5 day remaining so we need to be fast but Ah Beng is late for every day . The day before the submittion Ah Beng will rush the work . after night he finish the work with his team mate and he submit the workand he say is done by himself . After that ali and Ah Beng meet each other . Ali very hate Ah Beng so he heard the rumor that he always is late . So Ali come to complaint to The Boss . After the complaining the boss take away the bonus from Ah Beng . so the operation conditioning happen then it will make Ah Beng avoid from and be punctual .
  • 11. Covariation Theory Consensus is how similarly other people act, given the same stimulus, as the person in question, do majority of people behave the same way in the same situation? If the answer is yes, then consensus is high. If the answer is no, then consensus is low. In the video, Ah Being came late for meeting, but the rest of the member didn't do so. Only Ah Beng being different from others. He is late so his consensus is low. Distinctiveness is how unique is the behaviour in the particular situation? Does this person act the same way in every situation? For example, does this person always order western food in every resaturant, no matter where he is? So the distinctiveness is low because no matter where he is, he still will order the same plate. In the video, Ah Beng is high distinctiveness as he can take his breakfast on time but he come late for every meeting. Consistency is how often does the behavior occur across time in this exact situation. For instance, does this person always eat western food for every meal? if yes then the consistency is high. Ah Beng is late for every meeting, so the consistency is high.
